h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

 I'd like to know just one little thing...how many of you "hitchhikers" are really just using that title for personal gain, as an excuse to hang out in truck stops (actually that one that happens to be in your town), or get women? How many of you have actually lived the life? Gotten your hands dirty? Well, I just hitched my first today, and I can tell you, I don't honestly believe that all of you are real hitchhikers. It's hard. I flagged down seven people: two of them actually stopped; one didn't have room, though he was polite about it, and the other probably only gave me a lift because he is a friend of mine from high school (thanks, JR, wherever you are). In just one day, I have travelled the railroad and highway on foot, had countless motorists shine their brights on me, and even been to a previously unvisited truckstop. And for all you strags out there who lack the spines to admit it to me or at least yourself, I plan to keep hitching for a good while, thank you very much. This should be obvious even to someone from Bucksnort simply because of the fact that the title of this entry is labeled with a number. That is all.
