Why did I have to do that?
I've been playing with the camera this morning because some shots were coming out blurry and others were okay so was doing some tweaking here and there whilst checking out the manual....and also playing with the 24fps opposed to the other 15fps..to see what the quality would be like.
I went to take the card out of the camera and stuck it in the wrong slot...it went in all the way and is now currently residing in the bowels of the computer.
It's not plugged in as the hole was too large and was for something else...I can't get at the bleeding thing...I tried with a nail file and tweezers and it just went further back
Gonna have to take the casing off to get at it...and I can't do that right now...sneezing enuff as it is from the dust...*sniffle*
Really annoyed that I put it in the wrong place. Will put some tape over that slot when we get it out...grrr....
I'm going back to bed. Mondays always seem to bite me in the ass!

I never seemed to get the hang of Mondays either. Today I have managed to dye my hands blue while knitting a lacy shawl for my Step-Mum. It will have to be hand-washed. Dang it. And the blue's not coming off my hands! Aigh.
I'd go back to bed but alas I've stripped it and would have to remake it first and that would kind-of spoil the nihilist going-back-to-bed gesture.

IF YOUR COMPUTER IS UNDER WARRANTY:
Take it to the shop and ask them to unscrew the case and retrieve the card. Doing it yourself may void your warranty.
IF YOUR COMPUTER IS OUT OF WARRANTY:
Get a screwdriver. Don't be afraid of unscrewing the case, or even of unscrewing things like disk drives. Computers are quite difficult to break. Just try and remember which wire goes where. Hint: magic marker and sticky labels. And it gives you a chance to see what all the pixies inside look like.
I'm trying to work out where you were trying to slot it in, though. Is your disk reader built in to the computer. USB card readers (translation - you plug it in via a bit of electric string) are dirt cheap now.
Also...what size is your memory card? It might not be a hardship to buy a new - possibly larger - one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html/104-7075560-8687955?node=516866 Don't be scare by the expensive big boys at the start. 256MB will last you a 2-week family vacation.

Alternatively, what about getting a vacuum cleaner to suck it out of the hole?
Or using double-sided sticky-tape on the end of a long thing, to pull it out? You have got a Blue Peter badge, after all!

Wait a minute...you work in a hospital, don't you? There must be all manner of surgical instruments that yould do the job. My mother used to keep a handy supply of useful clamps, forceps, retractors, etc.
And then there was the time we used hypodermics to inject a Christmas cake with brandy through the icing...

I've got a huge syringe (with no needle) that i keep for feeding the inevitable orphaned animals, that sort of thing might work to suck it out? How big are these card thingys?
Anyway, i am a fine one to offer advice, still not got the webcam going, not that i am keen on anyone seeing me right now though!
I can tell you how to make a pinhole camera out of a shoebox if all else fails.

Syringes are dead handy for giving babies Calpol, too. And for refilling printer cartridges with ink, contrary to the rip-off manufacturers' advice. And for cranking up, obviously.
Does your heroin lose its glamour on the washboard overnight?
If your mother says don't do it, do you jack it up in spite?
Do you steal your brother's Giro? Do you talk a load of shite?

Nice one Ed!!!!
They are useful if you get thrush too, fill 'em with yogurt & squirt away into appropriate orifice. All in all, a syringe is a vital item in the hootoo home of today. Why visitors, cops & customs officers can't realise this is beyond me.
Oh, hi Vix, didn't see you there. Don't worry, me & Ed are just polluting your thread with sex, drugs & rock 'n roll.

It's usually the drugs & rock 'n' roll part (and mebbe a or eight) that gets things stuck in the wrong slot in the first place, innit?
Reminds me of the IM convo I had with a tecchie buddy of mine first thing on a Monday morning. He asked me "how was your weekend?", and my response was "I had too much to drink Saturday, got up to something I shouldn't have, and woke up Sunday with a Back Door Trojan". I still haven't heard the end of that one.
(Sorry if I've shared that incident with y'all already)

Where on earth did the blue come from Aga?
Oh Ed, I'd forgotten about the warranty thingy, cheersmidear!
As for what slot its in, ah dunno..
(gets off chair to squint at alien markings beside said slot)
- actually theres a diamond shape underneath it with CF printed inside it whatever that means..!
Yes, I think I may invest in a new card next pay check anyhow, I may have wrecked the one stuck in the computer with the errr nail file. I don't know what size the last card was..I hadn't actually filled it up yet..
SR...
(10 min interlude, whilst hunting for tape....)
oh yeh will fin reading this first then turn the power off....duh..
Kaz....
I like that idea for the christmas cake Ed... Actually at halloween one of the RPH's took some banana iv bags home...empty of course...and filled them with red dye and also took some filters and tubing and made a fake patient hooked up with an IV in her back garden..
How big are these card thingys...umm....not very big..less than an inch long and a cm and a bit wide...I'd measure it, but y'know...never heard of a pinhole camera in a shoebox?
*roars wif laughter at backdoor trojan*
I do hope I'm not reading that the wrong way...

Ah! Right! What you've got is a 'multi-format card reader'. You've got a card in (I'm guessing) SD format, but you've stuck it in the hole for a Compact Flash card (does the same job - just a different size. There are 5 or so different formats: http://www.steves-digicams.com/flash_memory.html).
It may be tricky to get it out by opening the case - it will be buried in the card-reader unit itself, which is probably riveted shut. So you'll have to perservere with tweezers, forceps, bent paperclips, etc. Use a bit of welly on it! You probably (well..possibly) won't damage the card itself. They're pretty robust things with no moving parts. Granted you might not ever be able to read a Compact Flash card again...but since you didn't know what one was, I hardly think it'll matter.

I think it's my setting myself up to be read the wrong way that makes it so amusing. Though you'd get a chuckle.

Yeh, I hope it's gone someplace nice...I can't even see it anymore, it vanished...I did rattle the Pc around hoping to jiggle it back - but to no avail.
Ah well life moves on, as do camera memory cards apparantly... Fare thee well....so long...adios..
