Flying.
$u$ Started conversation Oct 15, 1999
When I was younger, I had a vivid recollection of flying. Not a 'dream' or my 'imagination', but a solid memory of having been able to fly at some point, and doing so frequently. Due to this, I found 'So Long and Thanks For All The Fish' extremely interesting when it came out (further adding to my theory that DNA knows a lot more than he's letting on!)
Now, unfortunately, all I have is a memory of a memory. But I do remember how vivid that memory was, and recently (mythology aside!), I find myself thinking about it a lot, for some reason.
I wonder if anyone else has shared my experience (like the strongest sense of d'est jas vous (sp?), only more intense), or any other similar recollections???

Deja vous I think is the right way to spell it ... been over ten years since I last dabbled in French... or Spanish, over eight for Japaneese, but only about two for German. Cant speak any of them much anymore, but I ussually know what language is being spoken...
I have always had dreams of flight, in different manners. The arms outstretched gliding one is rare, and ussually short. The other feels like a really weak form of flying- I can only get a few inches off the ground, but I then can move myself like I was on Roller Blades or something (wouldnt really know what that was like, as I have never been on them). I actually dd fly, once. Quite by accident. When I was at University, there was a little mishap... I flew a good twenty feet, about six feet off the ground... until I hit the iron strapped oak doors of the science building. Followed by the cobble stone landing. Then I was attacked by first aid maniacs. But those few moments of freedom... it only could compare to the peace I felt in a near death experience a couple years before (I *WONT* go into the ocean anymore... we keep our distance....)
Anyways, nothing weird about having those memories or dreaming of them... supposed to be interpeted as a desire to flee or to be free of constraints, if I remember correctly.
Certain schools of thought do put forth the concept of being able to move things at will, including ones physical form, all though the spiritual form is more readilly the one moved. Done that one, too. Again, as an accident... very unnerving... I would recomend some Edgar Cayce (sp) for further reading, or possibly Carlos Castinada (claimed to be fiction, yet the concepts are based in truth for the most part). Your childhood memory may be real, but just not how you want to rationalise it.
Does this make any sense, or did I just prattle your ears (eyes) off?

Erm... sorry, could you repeat that...?!
Flying is the skill of falling and missing the ground (or something!)
Yeah, I think you probably got the spelling right. Us horses aren't too good with words! Now if it's an apple you've got needs eating...
I'm your horse!

Tsk-tsk... that definition sounds so pessimistic....Falling and not hitting the ground. I prefer to think of it as escaping the imposed restraints of accepted society. Flight was a wonderful thing. Just as long as you dont think about the landing, you're fine
Sorry, but the only apples I would ever give a horse are many days journey away, but well worth the trip. Best ones ever grown, only a few trees left. And even fewer know where to find them...
So, what does 'sus mean, exactly? I am an American, and that sounds horribly foreign to me.
Sorry for the blabbing back there... sometimes the mind opens and you cant get it to shut down...

It's an abbreviation of my name!
And your number?
I've got to fly now. Off to 'the other world' for a few days!

Of course I do, but then again, in other worlds I am slightly larger than a mouse.
Can you say 'dragon'?
Flying.
AEndr, The Mad Hatter Posted Oct 23, 1999
that yes was in reply to pegasus at begining not to anonymouse dragon

$u$ Posted Oct 23, 1999
I find it seriously worrying that I don't understand a word of the last three contributors to my journal! Except 'dragon'. I understand that.
Is it just me? Have I started spending too much time in the real world?

"Dragon"

Hmm... I think I may have jumped postings there... were you asking about '96169'? When I registered, I was assigned 96165... which reminded me of another registration number from my first SCA event, 96169... instead of registering four more times to get the number I wanted, I was lazy and just wrote it in as part of my handle...
Make more sense this time?
I don't even think I got the 'Dragon' reference, so you are not alone

My my my! I didn't mean to cause so much confusion.
"...in other worlds I'm slightly larger than a mouse ... can you say dragon" ... Would you say that dragon is slightly larger than a mouse?

and as for me, the "yes" was to your (Pegasus) question as to whether other people had similar experiences.
and as I pointed ot, not to the possibility of an anonymouse being bigger than a mouse therefore may be dragon sized which is also perfectly possible.
the frame to the left of the screen does indicate to what I was replying at the time.

Anonymouse Posted Oct 24, 1999
It would only do that if you pushed the reply button directly below that post to which you are replying. Which in the longer run can sometimes cause more confusion by adding a bunch of new posts to the middle of threads (needles in a haystack for longish threads!)

"It would only do that if you pushed the reply button directly below that post to which you are replying."
look! at the left hand frame
as you can see
I did push the reply button
so it did indicate to what I was replying, as I said.
and I would not have done so if the thread had been long, but this is a short one so far.
okay?!?!?!?!?!

Hey don't get all bent out of shape over it.
I was (and am) afflicted with sleep deprivation when I read your last post and saw an errant "n't" where there wasn't any.
Forgive my helpfulness.

shurely
n' I posted half asleep this a.m. after some cruel so & so (parent) phoned at 7am on a Sunday! And they know I'm a student (after all, they're giving me money to be one)
so sorry I snapped
different tack:
Do you fly regularly dragon?
I'm an owl, and enjoy flying myself. Brown Owl type owl. And I don't eat mice, before you ask. On the contrary, I have two sitting on my hat.

Anonymouse Posted Oct 28, 1999
I find the h2g2 ceilings to be more suitable to climbing across than flying under, so I'm perfectly content here being a mouse in the corner (or monsy's pocka, or wherever ).

AEndr, The Mad Hatter Posted Oct 28, 1999
You could come for a ride on my hat, if you wnated.
