Odd Lunch Thing
DickieP Started conversation Feb 15, 2000
Bit of an odd thing happening at the moment.
I'm sat in the office on my own, working away through the lunch hour (nothing new there) whilst everyone else is in a tapas bar up the road with our manager and the director of the online group of the corporation (head lad - gave us the "corporate vision for the future" waffle this morning).
Anyway, I've not gone to this lunch for a couple of reasons - partly out of protest (it's too busy to take time off, especially as I'm away on a course for the next two days and also I'm thoroughly dischuffed with the management at present, so I wanted to make it clear that I have no interest in sitting down to lunch with them), and partly because I just don't like going for formal lunches as I end up feeling like crap when I'm there and then worse all afternoon as I recover from food or alcohol or something.
Well, I told a couple of people I wasn't going, but have had 2 calls in the last few minutes asking where I was. First from the girl I think dislikes me, to whom I said I was busy working, as it seemed like a decent excuse. Second from my boss who then said "if you're too busy, we can give work to other people and this is a great opportunity to meet the head lad", so I replied that I was enjoying the peace to work, I wasn't too busy and that, frankly, I just wasn't smitten on going.
None of this really makes much sense if you don't know the workings of our office and my mind, but I wanted to get it off my chest now so that I can review it once the faeces hits the rotating cooling device when they all get back.
Hey, ho. Funny old world, ain't it?
