I've been struggling lately with the feeling that the Net i

The Net contains more new information in a day than anyone can read -
most of it is of dubious quality. The great thing about TV and radio
is that it removes to a certain exetent critical judgement. Other people
decide what I should be watching and listening to. The Internet requires
much more responsibility on behalf of the user and I'm not sure I'm up
to the task. My bookmarks are a sad paltry bunch of sites.
I'm convinced that h2g2 is the right idea - a filtering of the thoughts
and feelings of the world at large.

Hi, It's me again, just wanting to say that if you are fairly new to the Internet as I am.
You are only at the very tip of the iceburg.
Whatever you want to know, are curious about, or just want to have some fun.
It is there and much more too. Have you tried any of the other programs.
Like ICQ or MediaRingTalk? I am not trying to get you away from H2G2, but you can still spread your wings.
You could also try http:www.onelist.com. It is an intetresting site from which they will send you any topic you
choose by e-mail each day. I hate the thought of you not having very many bookmarkssmiley - smiley We will have to do something about thatsmiley - smiley What interests you, go on a search for it, using your search engines.

Hi Maid M. How ya doin? In a sense what I'm trying to say is that while I've come across many interesting things on the Net - there's nothing that I can't get elsewhere. In fact the discussions on h2g2 are the closest thing to a unique quality of the Net - but even then I can't afford to stay on the Net long enough to participate in one the discussions long enough to make any impression. Just a quick thought - how do the exceptionally long discussions ever begin?

If I can butt in here. oops I have:

I like your definition on my forum - I like this one even better.

This is the way long discussions start. Some take a few days to complete - others take weeks.

You do not have to be on line all the time - the messages will still be there when you return. As you reply it appears (as I am sure you have already discovered) on all participants pages. When you see an update - you return to see if it is of interest to you and so on and so forth.

Have fun - vegimansmiley - smiley

Hi Researcher 52232
Vegiman...thanks for answering the question, I think I misunderstood what 52232 meant at first.
I think you have just to jump into a conversation when you feel like it. It does take some doing though.
I am sure you have a lot to offer, and by doing that, you will get back as much or more than you give.smiley - smiley
Is it expensive for you to be on the net?? I pay $24.95 a month for 250 hours. No other charges.
You want knowledge on H2G2....I have just learned how to make a spitting fishie.
Ready....:smiley - fish~~~~~~ smiley - winkeye

May I suggest you get a nickname sorted - numbers do not give a feeling of friendliness at least with a pseudo name it gets remembered. May I suggest you revisit my page and copy and paste jims link onto your own home page. You will then be able to see who is on line - also an a to z of pages written. - I'll have a read of your page NEWS at another time as it's late and way past my bedtime - I have to be up at 5.30am. all the best
