The thought that gets me through all visits to dentists is, "at least this won't be as bad as public speaking."

My gum's doing interesting things at the moment. (Quixote will enjoy this.) As the hole closes, wads of red-brown fibrous stuff (some kind of dental dressing) fall out into my mouth when I rinse it out. I think it's all come out now, because I can feel the loose, flappy edges of the hole with my tongue. Sadly, I have no webcam to record the gruesome details, but that's probably just as well, since I think poor Hati could far outdo me in terms of grue at the moment! Anyway, the flappy edges are less flappy every day, and I think they're starting to meld together, because they have that tissue-fluid taste that you get when you pick a scab and then lick the fresh pink wound underneath.

I LOVE Public Speaking!!! I can hardly be restrained from straddling the podium; i am banned from churches, theatres won't let me in unless i sit in the back row; i have an ASBO for the Hyde Park area.

But gums; oh god,i believe they are attached to those yellowy hardish things that interfere with speech aren't they? Sometimes...

Good question. I don't know really; hmm; never actually thought about it. Maybe i am a natural born show off, but certainly wasn't as a kid, quite the opposite.

Being a teacher obviously helps, busking certainly does; if you have the brass necked balls to burst into a stag party of 200 Frenchmen & scream "Who wants to twist & shout then?" & get away with it (& more importantly, get paid for it!)

I think the most blatant thing i did was onstage as the stoopid stooge chararcter, dressed in a beefeaters costume, miniskirt, red tights, pompoms on my toes, sing a duet with my fellow beefeater. Song was "Anything you can do, I can do better" & in the front row glaring at me was the wife of the guy i was having an affair with at the time (she knew; & we got married later..er, i mean to him, not her)

I did think "if i can get away with this, i can get away with anything" so stared her out & we got lots of

Hmmm... So all I need to do is buy a Beefeater's costume and have an affair...

That sounds like a heck of a lot of effort. Perhaps searching eBay for some brass balls would do it.

The co-naughty was Welsh by the way. First hubby was Scots, 2nd English, 3rd Welsh. Don't anybody say i am not doing my bit for the United Kingdom. where's that bloody Irishman gone....

This thread just isn’t doing me any good.

Yep that has been in our local papers for months now. First they said he wasn't fully qualified, we didn't know then that he was just helping out the girlfriend. Croydon dentists eh! He wasn't mine though, I am happy to say.

I've been meaning to arrange a dental check-up for ages with the new NHS place locally... I think the new NHS charges will probably apply by the time I can sort one out now...
