The weather has got me up at 6.30 am.
I usually get woken up by the radio alarm at 7.00 am, but at weekends we switch it off. BUT most weekends I wake up and get up earlier than when I have to go to work. Why can't I just lie in ?
Last night I went to the opening of the Comic Showcase basement (or Marnie's Crypt as I like to call it). While it was an uncertain pleasure to meet everyone's family and partners, the highlight for me was chatting to Warren Ellis a surprisingly human (and by that I don't mean I was surprised that he was a human) writer of comics.
Not just "comics" but Transmetropolitan and Hellblazer which I will probably write about elsewhere under the category of things to do on a number 24 bus.
He has an interesting idea that could break the traditional way that comics are sold. I realised that that is what I have liked about him all this time. His ideas.
We will probably have to agree to differ on the value of Frank Sidebottom to 80s Britain.
Also there was Peter Hogan - who, besides being a comics writer and nice chap, writes for Uncut magazine. He confirmed my long -held belief that there is a whole section of Yellow Submarine that has been erased from our memories.

Whatever happened to Frank Sidebottom?
He autographed the back of my hand at the Reading festival in '96 but i haven't heard of him doing anymore live appearances after that.
Anyway, Frank Rules!
