New millennium

Well, we have reached the year 2001. Thankfully without the enormous hoopla that accompanied the last new year. All that stuff about the "Y2K". Just another year.
This time it really is a new millennium, for what that's worth. Personally I reckon it's all a load of cobblers. You could pick any day at random during the earth's rotation around the sun and call it the beginning of a new year. You could have picked any year to be your first year. Latin scholars tried to pick the date of Christ's birth with dodgy information, and most historians now agree they got it wrong. For the majority of the world's population who are not christian anyway, that's of little relevance.
So there we go, another new calendar for the wall, and we now have to write "01" in the year column of every official form we sign. Big deal.
