Die Fledermaus and Full Metal Racket

Last night I was priviliged to go and see the Opera Queensland production of 'Die Fledermaus' and it was fantastic! smiley - biggrin A most amusing opera, it had the whole audience in fits of laughter over Alfredo, Rosalinde von Eistenstein's Italian lover, Dr Blind the bumbling lawyer, "Prince" Orlofsy the kinky millionaire who resented his fortune, and many other comical characters smiley - laugh. The music itself, composed by Johann Strauss II was brilliantly beautiful....yes.
Also, since I attended with a school group we got to met two cast members, who were very enthusiastic. smiley - smiley
Since that "talk to the casty-people" thing started at 5pm and finished at about 5.45pm, we had 1hr 45mins before the opera began, so we ordered pizza.
It astounds me how such a simple operation can amuse me so much. It wasn't even that funny........I guess I'm just easily amused. And we now know that Domino's will deliver to the Brolga Theatre. (We weren't sure if they would).

I was also at the Brolga on Saturday night to be in the Raw Metal Dance Companies production of Full Metal Racket. Last Tueasday we had an Arts Council Workshop with Grant Collins, an absolutely fabulous drummer and Nick, a dance, music and drama teacher. It was so fun!
For their production, they wanted school representatives to be in it, doing all sorts of percussiony thingies, so Ally, Kim, Wez and I put our names down and dear Ms Shanahan told us she'd ring and tell them. Unfortunatley, none of the teachers would be able to attend, but since we were seniors, we were allowed without a teacher.
My mum went in to collect her complimentary ticket on Saturday morning, and she found out that no people from our school had been put on the list because no contact had been made and they had filled our positions with students from other school (darn Urangan High!). They felt smiley - sorry for us anyway and squished us in, which we were very smiley - smiley about. So we spent an amazing night watching 6 (? or was it 8...no...6)brilliant dancers (our groups babysitter was Amy! She was the best!) and one of the best drummers on earth (He had a $AU 75 000 drum kit. Which is darn expensive) and joking about shooting our dear Shanahan (boy that's odd to type smiley - ill)on Monday at school.

Well, our wonderful night was over, Ally had a million videos of the dancers on her phone, a bundle of pics of us with Grant, and had headr wy tooooooo much of The Phantom of the Opera from Kim and I.
We went back to school on Monday, and told Shanahan what happened and she said........she did contact them....through e-mail and they had obviously not checked it.

smiley - sorry FOR DOUBTING YOU SHANAHAN! smiley - blue
