I'm happy because I found a long lost copy of the Hitchhickers Guide computor game and I am buying the computor for it for £15 !

Hi there -- is it an old Mac version? Or some other platform? And do they have any other copies? Just wondered -- I'm a long-time Mac fan, and I've always wondered what that game was like. Let me know!
Cheers, Martin

It's a PCW text game.
You wake up, you've got a headache and it's dark ect...
from what I remember, anyway.

You can still get the PC or Macintosh version if very lucky. Released by activision on one of their infocom compilations. The compilations retail for about U$15. I haven't got a URL handy at the mo' tho'. The game is a purely text adventure and although funny, is also very very hard! Just try getting the Babel fish in your ear on the first attempt ...

I only played it when I was about 6 and I could only get as far as the bulldozers!
Mind you, I had not read the books them.

It also had really sneaky abbreviations. So instead of putting "lie down in front of the bulldozer", "lie down" would do. It's an odd game when you get into it though 'cos you end up playing Trillian, Arthur, Ford, et al and playing through snearios you just completed as another character. Must've been a nightmare to write & debug, but that's DNA for you - never one for the old straight track.
One of the best bits was the way the game carried on after you'd died. If you put in a command it'd just say "You stay out of this: you've caused enough trouble already". Ah, those were the days - pre point and click click click click click click click

Sounds great, I can't wait to play it again.
