My computer is currently in bits. I'm using it to write this message, but physically it's in pieces. The power supply is sitting on the floor, there is a tangle of wire mixed in with my dirty washing, and there's a SDRAM memory card on the February edition of National Geographic.
It's 2.40am and I'm in a philosophical mood. I'm mulling over the similarity of my computer and my brain. My computer works, more or less, and is capable of quite a lot. Like my brain. My computer is in bits at the moment. My mind is kind of in pieces. Sort of thing. The computer's got all kinds of problems which I can't figure out how to fix; it freezes randomly; doesn't use the memory properly; the communication facilities keep crashing and disconnecting; and the network isn't working at all. Sounds familiar.
This is appalling, I'm comparing myself to my computer. I'd better stop before it gets any worse.
Last night I dreamt that I was the product of somebody else's imagination.
Hmm.

Using the analogy of your brain being a computer isn't too bad. They have things in common, and also important differences.
Last night I dreamt I was reading an H2G2 forum...

It's nice to see someone else who programs in Delphi!smiley - smiley
I did pascal at Alevel, but everyone here does Java.

I intend to put my computer back together as soon as my housemate gives me back my screwdrivers, which he borrowed to take his computer apart.
Come to think of it, I might as well leave it in bits. I'm always taking it apart anyway, so it would be much more convenient smiley - smiley
One day I'll finish off the programs I've written and put them on my homepage. I've programmed several silly games. One I'm working on at the moment (well, sort of, I haven't done anything to it for ages) is a platform game starring a houseplant on wheels. smiley - smiley
I learnt Pascal and Delphi at A level, and a bit of Java, but I've forgotton the Java now, it's way too confusing. At the moment I'm trying to learn POV-Ray, a bizarre language for creating ray traced 3D images.
Have you programmed anything fun/interesting?

No, I'm afraid... I always mean to, but I've not had the time to, really. I can never think of anything, and don't then have the patience to figure it out.... nothing more than very basic stuff from me... I do like to program, though. I love the feeling when the program compiles and executes properly, without runtime errors! POV ray sounds cool. The other thing I mean to do is learn to program some of the mathmatics programs we have on the network... but knowing me it won't happen.
Rumour has it that I shall be required to learn FORTRAN next year... bleurgh!
