h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Every now and then I am wonderously reminded that people are truly good and souls do exist. It makes me incredibly happy. That soft, sweet sort of contentedness reminiscent of a little kid singing, or looking at a sunset and becoming the colour.

I feel like that now.

People ARE truly good, but this doesn't necessarily mean that souls exist: I still prefer to think of people as people, rather than disembodied minds. Being reminded that people are good is excellent, and it's only a matter of turning to h2g2 for a while each day...!

I hope that the feeling continues, oh glorious leader...!

You don't believe in souls? I meant it in terms of "souls" not being a religious thing to save, "souls" rather just being that thing that ties the mind and body together and does that 'thing' it does so well. Or not, if that's your thing.

And it wasn't even h2g2 that did it to me - which made it all the better (I'm already convinced the vast majority of h2g2 people are good ).

No, I don't believe in souls. Souls which are not religious things aren't necessary at all. "Bodies and minds" are together anyway - nothing needs to tie them there.

Pleased to hear that something other than h2g2 is going right, too. It seems you've been on a bit of a downer lately (or maybe that's just me)...

My faith in human nature is restored almost every time I go onto h2g2. I agree - good people are an addictive drug.

As for the 'soul' debate, I can see Fenchurch's point Hypoman. I think it can be used as a purely arbitary term that describes the whole body/mind mishmash - the linking of the physical with the behavioural.

'Behavioural' can be broken down to a series of brain functions - but it's all so complex that I think it's still seen as something different from physical activity. 'Soul' seems a good enough term for me though.

Fenchurch, was it something specific that happened to make you feel this good or a series of wonderful thingees all culminating to make a wonderous feeling? Either way it's nice to hear !

Hmm... well, I wasn't high, if that's what you were asking. I was just very calm and taking in everything and saw a family. It was love oozing everywhere, even though the little kids were fighting.... hehe.

It is so very nice to be reminded that people are truly good. Because it's so easy to lose that with all the things going on that aren't so good. Hold on to that good feeling.
