Okay, I know people who go on about their dreams are often really dull, but...
Last night I had a dream that I was visited by an old friend. Nothing too unusual about that, you might think. But the thing is, this particular friend died nearly two years ago and it left my social group in shellshock for quite some time. So I was a litle surprised to see him.
In the dream, my friend was sat in a chair in the middle of a party and only I could see him. I knew he was dead, and that he shouldn't have been there, but it didn't worry me, talking to a ghost. He reassured me that he's doing fine now, although his speech was a little slurred - an after-effect of the heart-attack that took him from us, I realised. He could only stay for a short time, and his parting words were 'I'll be floating over you'... and then he was gone.
Funny, I used to do dream analysis for a few friends of mine, but I find that I don't want to know if this one has any other meaning. I'm happy with the one that tells me he's okay.

Dreams are truly freaky things...
If I may, I'd like to contribute my own bit of spooky dream stuff:
Just this morning, I dreamed that I was in hospital and that I had died. I was in bed and I heard the heart monitor 'flat-line' indicating that I had passed on.
I woke with a start and realized that I was hearing the kettle. That was a relief!

Oh Jimster, that was a beautiful dream.
The spirit of your departed friend did indeed visit you, I congratulate you for being so open-minded.
I sometimes go to the local Spiritualist Church when I am in need of spiritual uplift and I always get a message from my Grandma who passed away 17 years ago.
And there are times when I feel low or depressed and I see something at that moment which takes my breath away - like a robin or a butterfly, it's almost a signal that the bad moments will pass, and things will get better.
Regarding dreams, mine are prophetic sometimes, I have 4 children and each of them "visited" me in a dream so I was able to accurately predict their gender. My sister and I have a psychic connection and we have dreamed things about each other which subsequently came true.
There's a lot we don't know about the human psyche and death, who is to say they aren't connected? Maybe death is a continuous dream...
I would take your dream at face value and consider you blessed.

Just by the way, while I was re-reading your post before I posted my reply, I got the distinct feeling that you are talking about DNA.

Sadly not, AGB, never met him. No, this is a friend called Peter Cooke who died in January 2001. Not the famous one either, though he was as unique to us as the celebrity version was to the world of comedy
While I don't have any strong convictions either way (mainly because of the same doubts that made me distance myself from my Catholic education), I think it would be very foolish to dismiss something as impossible because of a lack of purely scientific evidence. I think there are some questions that are not best-answered by science. Emotions are not all that apparently scientific to humans; neither are dreams.
I suppose I've got an open mind because I'd love to believe in something more, whether that be aliens or 'old faiths'. Unfortunately, some people are so closed-minded that they dismiss people as 'crackpots' if they can't see an explanation straight away.
Cheers for the message, AGB. Put a big smile on my face - perfect armour against the London rush-hour!

Sure will - probably considered a work day though
(Just bought a nice boardgame that I think people might enjoy on the day)
