What a sweet idea. I'd love it, but they'd bust me if I installed any unauthorized software.
I've thought about going to the electronics store to buy an electric eye. I'm at the end of a hallway all by myself and I know where I could put it and a piece of retroreflective tape. Remote connect that to a small quiet bell on my desk and Voila! Time to Alt+Tab to a better window.

WE've already added the tape deck to our new PC spec list 
I was toying with the idea a year or so back of trying to get a car tape deck put into the PC tower, but this is the best and easierst no doubt solution....
