Long day. Very hard, understaffed, too many students, top of head has popped off, aigh.
Oh, disconcertment. I went to a literary talk after work, which was all jolly interesting (and is another reason why I'm home late, tired, and avec le fatigue of the brain). Afterwards, I was in the train station buying a hot chocolate (what? I'd missed my dinner) when the people queuing with me said, 'oh! You were at the talk!'
'Why yes, I was,' I said, in my best polite I'm-not-sure-if-I-know-you-should-I-know-you? voice.
'It's the hair,' they explained, 'We noticed it from the other side of the hall!'
And we all smiled politely and I took my hot chocolate and shuffled off to catch my train.
I knew my hair was a bit, well, it has personality. But being chased down like a celebrity in public places because my hair was THAT NOTICEABLE? I don't know whether to invest in a sparkly clip or shave my head.

And oh how envious we with thin, flat and completely straight hair will always be of those with thick and curly hair - and vice versa...

Sparkly clip, surely!

I don't know - if Ag's hair is anywhere near as untameable as that of a girl I used to work with, there is no clip strong enough to hold the hair in place. The only thing that would work for my colleague were office rubberbands ('fancy' rubber bands would just slip off) of the wide variety.

It is true my hair rejects most clips and hair-bands. I have a bunch of extra-sturdy hair-elastics (skinny ones, or ones with metal clips, snap in days (the sturdy ones last weeks)), and two large brutally strong - ohh, what are they called? The ornaments that fasten with a separate pin. Every kind of clip, slide, barette, comb, grip, bobby-pin, claw-comb and hair-band, my hair fights off, struggles out of, and in extreme cases pings across the room. The Quest Continues.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Nov 15, 2011
I must say, Ag, that I think you have absolutely wonderful hair... but then being someone who isn't possessed of thick untamable curls I *would* say that.
