Bears, Oh my.

I put the entry on Bears into peer review. The internet wasn't available in work over the weekend, much boredom has been endured. Working again now. Still havn't weeded or written enough. Only a week and a half till the deadline and She's going to be away. Woe is speckly. I shall be a bereft fish. And I'm very pissed off that our perfect four year record of zero time appart will be interupted.

Bears, Oh my.

The entry on bears was partly in response to a conversation I had at the last weekend up the Uni. We were talking about the strange things people collect and someone started on about teddybears, and with me wearing a Winnie badge too.

I don't understand why so many people think that for an adult to have teddies they must be immature, insecure and slightly silly. I'm sure that for some people this is precisely the case, but not all of us. I love teds, bears in particular, and I read childrens books, not out of some cool academic interest but because I enjoy them. And I don't think this makes me childish. Lizardy and I have a healthy awareness of the childlike side of ourselves, we play and have an inner world of make believe. And we have teds who we love very much.

There is a great deal of the experience of childhood that most people reject when they grow up. Innocence and a willingness to play and be silly are not valued by most adults. But I see no need to give up that view on life, it's a valuable part of my unique way of seeing the world. Besides, beras are just lovely and they deserve an entry of their very own.
