a little bitter maybe???? Some us are humans, please dont generalise!
The art of conversation is not dead...hopefully demonstrated within this thread??? If there is one thing guaranteed to get "most" mens backs up it is being generalised. I know I have probably opened a panodra's box of "anti male" comments heading my way, but please...if you read this thread you'd see there is at least one of us on this planet and able to hold a half decent (well sort of) coversation. and im sure i am not the only one.
Apologies if I have upset UG or anyone else on this posting....dont mean to... I have had a s**t day at work and need a darkened room, my straight jacket and several millnia to sleep!
for now

Yes, mine's like Teasswill's. It's like getting blood out of a stone sometimes.
(Didn't even pass on the message I asked him to post here when he told me it was going to be Hampton Court - though it looks as though you managed not lose your head over old Henry anyway.)
Honestly, what a boor (Your Christopher Biggins, not my Hubby). If he wasn't prepared to make an effort why did he bother trying to meet you in the first place?
Well at least you found out the worst straight away. Thank your stars for a lucky escape. Be awful to have found yourself bored to death. At least you had nice views...
Pity though - all these days I've been looking forward to a nice juicy story.
Even missed the party
Any left?

thanks for the tefkat and J Ellen.....and thanks for the offer of a double breasted jacket!! I have escaped my padded cell to come back to work for another day of fun and frolics. I have decided to write a poem (just to change the subject completely!!)...I have a subject i nmind but need to think about it first. You have inspired me UG....
Thanks.... and for everyone!!

Is this a *serious* pome, Spike, or a bit of fun type pome? C'mon, lets have a look, I like poetry! Even had some of my stuff "published" here in the Post! Work on Sundays? Good Lord, whatever happened to that old fashioned concept of the "weekend"?
The thing about silent/noncommunicative partners, is that if we didn't have them, there'd be nothing for US to talk about! So they do serve a sort of purpose....

Ummmm, I see your point witchone!! I'll believe you!!
Maybe you can help me....where is the best place on here to post a poem??? Put it on my own space?? Or I have heard of special "writing room" type thingies.....If so how do I get there?...I know I'm being a bit thick but computers and me are still at the phrase book stage of communication!
I have a fairly serious type poem to post......I have never written anything like this before so I am a bit nervous...know what I mean?? revelaing feelings and stuuf, doesnt come easy to us men does it????
All the best

Revealing feelings and stuff doesn't come easy to men? Depends on the man - mine is an absolute honey and is more articulate than I am at that sort of stuff.... I tend to be a bit more oblique and put what I feel in me pomes, and let people figure it out for themselves.
H'mm where to post? I don' quite know HOW I got involved, but The Post staff got in touch with me and I just put a batch of pomes onmy personal space every so often and they transfer them by into the Post. Go to my page, and find "Poetry" in my message centre, and get Shazz' address. Also, there is a writing workshop and a peer review, but I don't go near, because I've DONE writing workshops and I regret to say I find them full of pretentious wazzocks who can argue blind as to where a comma "should" be. (And I know where *I'D* like to stuff aforementioned comma) I found - surprisingly enough - that there ARE rules to poetry.... but once you know what they ARE, the trick, I've found, is to break the rules good and hard! E Mail is [email protected]. If you want - and don't feel you have to, cos pomes is very private and most people get very shy and protective of their work (It's a bit like being seen starkers for the first time, its terrifying!) -I'll give you a bit of a hand... you can take or leave the advice, its up to you, its your work and style that counts, not what anyone else thinks. Oh, and if you look on the. left hand side of my page, you'll see a bloody great list of work I've had shown off. If you check the "comments" you'll come accross a charactor called Waz, who seems to be interested in creative writing and also - for what its worth, seems to be a nice person. It might be worth your while to get in touch with her (I think she's a her). I'm on one of my pet topics, and I do go on a bit!

Just another wee thoughtette... I had a lurk on the other page - UG's pome.. I have to disagree.. young familly or not, you can ALWAYS find time to write.. I did some of my best stuff to date with 2 screaming toddlers ratchetting around the place 24/7... I had no partner (I'd kicked him out), no familly to help out, and no time to make friends, so it was a sort of Purdah for about 3 years - when they both could walk and talk and we could DO things together before I came out into the world again... and guess what? I had a big box full of papers with scribbled little masterpieces on them. And a lot of them got published in Eire.
And I reckon if *I* can do it, anyone can. All you've got to have is a love of the written word. After that, its a piece of

Apologies if I have offended, Spike. Of course not all men are the same, nor are women. But there are a lot of common characteristics to each & men do tend to lack the art of chit-chat in which women excel!

Hello All, guess I missed the weekends postings, not being at work and not have a very compliant computer at home.
With regards to Witchone's comments about being able to write when you have a family around you, perhaps I was too generalistic. *I* couldn't write at that time, but maybe it was because I had too much on my mind and was too exhausted with looking after the children on my own. The atmosphere around us has to be conducive to writing and if Witchone found children around her conducive then she would be able to write. I think I was saying, Spike, that if you felt you could not write with the family bit going on, which is what I think you said, then that phase was not going to last for ever, and there would be a time you could write eventually, so not to give up.
Tefkat's back! Good to see you back on-line. Hope all is OK.
I can't enter into the "silent male" conversation, because, apart from Christopher Biggins, I don't have much to do with lone males, and the 10 I work with at night and the 100-odd I see arriving for the day shift, are far from silent believe me!!
Is there any more of that going? And shall I brew some fresh or for anyone?
Take care UG

Why aren't your "eyes" up? I thought you'd gone to bed!
Great to be talking to you again, I've missed you. How are you feeling?

Getting better thanks. Managed to get out of bed on my own just now. Wish I hadn't let him cut off some of my hip

Universal Granny Posted Oct 5, 2003

So do I take it the hip hurts more than the neck?
Have you mistralled recently, by the way?

Will this help ??
Virtual is OK, but I bet reality would be more welcome!
At last all the decorators, fitters etc have gone, and I am left with two very echoey rooms with not too much in them and a hall, landing, staircase, and 2 bedrooms full of boxes that have somehow got to fit into these two rooms without them looking too cluttered again
More ?
Your "eyes" are up now, by the way - strange they weren't showing on my screen before.

Ta UGgie
Nah, real stuff would have trouble getting past the lump in the froat.
Ooh, echoey rooms . Can I come and sing Heathcliff in them? (I last sang it while being winched out of Gaping Gill - 'twas wonderful )

Universal Granny Posted Oct 5, 2003
Couldn't you suck it so that it slides down? looks a bit rude that, doesn't it! You know what I mean!
What the heck is Gaping Gill and why were you being winched out of it?
