My house is full of rubbish - they say the state of your personal environment is the state of your mind, and it's true. So - I am de-junking!
I have paid several visits to the local charity shops with erstwhile treasured hoardes (I must sell this at a car boot, this might be valuable, this might come in useful one day, this is a really interesting.....hmmm?) etc etc. I have made it a point of honour to have my 95 litre wheelie bin full to the brim and overflowing with rubbish every Wednesday waiting for the collection (sorry dustmen) and I have begun to de-junk and clean each room separately and attempt to keep it that way forever (ha!ha!).
Well the loo is looking good, only another 3 bedrooms, two living rooms, a kitchen and bathroom to go, along with a garden, loft and cupboard-under-the-stairs.
My mind is still a jumble though, except that little corner there with a loo roll in it!
I don't have many friends - my fault, but different story. Perhaps someone out there might like to talk to me through this site - perhaps not.
Thank you ACE for your welcome.

Well I'll know where to look next time I need a loo roll then. Here's a loo brush to go with it.
It's very hard getting rid of stuff isn't it? The children's books were the worst - I could clearly remember having read each one to them.
And as for the teddy bears . I went through them and managed to take out about a dozen to jettison and then Hubby came home and said "Oh no, you can't get rid of that one... and this one... and I love him... " We sent 2 or 3 to the charity shops and threw 2 in the bin - leaving over 50 to be packed.
You'll probably find a lot of the rubbish in your house actually belongs to your daughter. They do that.
Wheelie bins and dustmen - you're a Brit aren't you?
North, South, East, West, Townie, Woolly-back, Teuchter?

Tha didn't tell me which bit of Britain though(approximately of course - must be careful of attracting stalkers dear ). I'm in "The North".

Universal Granny Posted May 2, 2003
And I am from "The South". My Mum was evacuated during the war to "The North", although she is "down South" now, but my godmother still lives in Yorkshire - lovely countryside, but regretfully I don't get up there much at all.

Aye. Fell in love with Yorkshire the first time I passed through it, 18 years ago. Then I reached journey's end, spent a weekend in Northumberland and have been here ever since. :-/ Nice to see you over at S.H.A.D.O.W. Another place you'll find a lot of us Boring Old Farts hanging around is at the B.O.F Inn - why not pop into the Snug http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/F57147?thread=86772&latest=1 for an

Hello, Tefkat
How goes it? I'm not in too much of a good mood to write tonight, but I didn't want you to think I had forgotten you!
My knees are both riddled with arthritis and now my back is being affected, so bending to sit down (especially on the loo!) is a painful and haphazard business - now you know why I keep the loo roll where I do, saves all that hunting around!
It's not so bad at home, but the loos at work seem to be about 6 inches lower than anywhere else I know - a bit like kindergarten loos and rising from them is especially painful!!
Us Universal Grannies get very frustrated when we can't just get on with life.
*Disappears into distance - mumbling*
Take care,

Repeating yourself in a mumble at that
Hope you're feeling a little better now.
Have some universal painkiller
Does the weather affect you at all? Mine was pretty bad over the weekend and I thought it might have something to do with the cold and the rain. Much better yesterday and today.
Off to do some more packing.

Hello Tefkat
Thanks for the (I'm saving the third bit until later) and the , TLC was just what I needed.
Hadn't thought of it as weather-related - will keep an eye on weather knees and back over the next couple of weeks and see if that tells me anything. Sounds like a cue for party song - "Eyes, and weather, knees-and-back, knees-and-back. Eyes and weather, knees-and-back, knees and b-a-a-c-k, and eyes and weather, knees and back, eyes and weather, knees-and-back, (knees-and-back)". Phew! Need a now.
Newspapers - hmm, well I could rob the guinea pig, she won't mind. She used to be one of a trio - Rolo, Polo and Solo. But two of them died and Polo is now solo. A dozen assorted newspapers on their way, if you're out I'll leave them behind the flowerpot in the porch.
You've done well with the packing, but has the moving date hove into view yet?
Happy Friday, take care

hehehe, I remember singing that at toddler groups, moving the babies' arms to do the actions.
Thanks for the newspapers. I'm afraid I'm going to get stuck reading them before I can use them to pack . I've been reading 4 month old Financial Timeses for the last few days . Can't help it, the written word holds a strange fascination.
We still haven't signed contracts so who knows when we'll manage to move but we're hoping for half-term.
Happy Friday to you too. Have another . In fact have another 5 . If we empty the bottle I won't have to move it.

If we empty the bottle we won't be able to move it - or anything else.
My daughter has just got her moving date for next Friday, so I'm afraid we need all the newspapers we can get now. I don't think I'll be too involved in packing things up but I expect some heavy "grannying" over the next week so that she doesn't pack the 1 year old too many times.
See you soon, take care

Just passing.
Are you OK?
I'm away from work this week, but I have sneaked back in to use the computer, just to see how you all are.
Take care

Ooh, I missed the last two posts
I'm not really feeling myself at the moment (as you can see) but I'm sure it will pass when we finally manage to move.
Glad your daughter made it OK. Hope Tabs manages without too many problems.

Thanks Eccentrica, yes, daughter safely installed in new home which is now entirely furnished with boxes. They still haven't found the toaster or their toothbrushes (hasten to add they bought new ones!).
Hope you didn't find wandering about my space too boring
