Well, the dramas of the last few days with young Fred and Barney seem to have calmed down, leaving us with dramas to come no doubt, but today is gloriously sunny and a day to leave the miseries behind.
So.. I've decoked the house, got the school washing on, polished the cat (if I had one) and I decided - before I went to the beach to attempt dipping my geriatric feet in the cold manky depths of the Thames Estuary - everyone should do at least one unwise thing each day, otherwise whats the point - (sometimes just getting up is unwise enough) - I would go to our local market for veg and fresh stuff. No problem - Sunday lunch is sorted - Roast Beef, plenty veg, all the trimmings and a nice Rhubarb Crumble with fresh rhubarb, ginger and orange in the pipeline. Good God I'm being organised for once, isn't this fun? Then we get to the cake stall. See a nice chocolatey cake with those little easteryeggs in shells on top. Thought to hell with the milk allergy we'll have one of those.
Looked, chose one with a sell by date of 5/5/03 - or so I believe.
Get home and I find the dyslexia is playing up - it's BB 2/5 (that should read 2nd May, OK?) When oh when will I get the hang that I still see figures upside down when I'm tired? Although I'm not tired - I must admit I'm having trouble reading the dice when I play backgammon, too. Is this another symptom of incipient middleaged insanity - or proof positive that all systems start breaking down when us ladies hit a certain age? Or is it just another Joy of Menopause? Gawd I'm sick of this transition time - I've no fears of being seen as "old", because I'll never be old in my head whatever the body tells you. I don't mind not being fertile for much longer - I've done my bit for the population and motherhood, and its time to move on. I'm not fussed about that - its the PROCESS that gets to me - its like adolescence in reverse - and the only advantage there is, is that you know you've survived all the amotional angst and spots and rebellion of the teenage years and there is light at the end of the tunnel. But when the brain is gooey, the hormones making you into a weepy insecure cat with spots and it feels life is ganging up on you a bit (for no specific reasen, it just IS) then I sometimes wonder... am I past my sell by date or is it just market cakes?

Hello Witchone - saw you on who's online and thought I'd come say hi. Well, that done...
First of all, the sell by date does not mean it's not fit to eat. BUt if you don't want it. I'll have it Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Secondly, the numbers thing. I've never go numbers. Just his morning I was copying a set of numbers for my experiments, looked at what I'd written and realised I'd got them ALL back to front! I could excuse myself that it's first thing in the monring so I'm allowed, but it happens all the time. There are just those of us that shouldn't be allowed near numbers.. Good reason for never having to become an accountant!

You mean you DON't have to be menopausal and a trainee dyslexic to have an allergy to accountants? Oh, thank God! I thought it was just me.
Er.. sorry about the the kids mopped it rapid when I got in
I like the look of your Astrological site thing. I've got a great book - DIY Astrology by Lynn Birkbeck which makes it nice and simple for the non numerate - try and look at a copy of it if you haven't already. Its very simplistic so maybe its below your level. No offense meant if it is. Thank you for calling by.

I though everyone with a personality had accountant phobia!
I had to go out and get some of me own.. T'was very nice though...I do love working to close to Borough Market
It's not my Astrological site, for some reason I was put in as a researcher...but I don't really know why. I'm intersted in astrology and tarot and that sort of thing, but never get up enough energy to learn about it properly. Will have a look for that book you reccommended though. What's interested me the most about it is how both my Western and Eastern charts are pretty accurate about me, and pretty much identical to each other...even for a scientist that would indicate there is something to ot (even if, in the end, it's just for a bit of fun etc.. )

Yeah, know what you mean - I'm an aromatherapist, and I've seen too many clients with too many birth signs that correlate with the bit of the body they come to have treated - ie, Aries people have headaches, Taurus throat problems and so on, right down to Pisces people usually have a foot problem (I'm not the sort of masseusse that deals with the Scorpio area of the body (alas), which could account for the zero number of regular Scorpio clients I have) The East and West Charts - well, mine, as well, do seem to "ackle" nicely together... like you say, there MIGHT be something in it, but I couldn't run my life as one of my astrological friends does "By the Chart" - if he thinks he's got a nasty dose of conjunctions(or whatever they're called) he'll stay in bed for the day till they're out the way. Poor devil doesn't get out much though
The Tarot also has astrological connatations. Some of the major arcane cards can represent a "sign" (The Hermit, if I remember rightly represents Capricorn) or planets. And the Court Arcana (Kings, Queens and Pages, not Knights) each represent one of the signs of the Zodiac OR the time scale covered when the sun is in that sign (if you see what I mean). I think as long as you don't take it all too too intensely or seriously it can be an interesting thing to play with - one of the best curses I could vent on my mum was "Wretched cusping Libran!" It must've silenced her for.... oh, all of 30 seconds! The Astro book ISBN No. isISBN 1-85230-892-3 published by Element, and if you can find time from studies and work and London (haven't gone up to town for years... really must do if only to educate the lads) a really good Tarot book is "Tarot Made Easy" by Nancy Garen, published by Piatkus, ISBN 0-7499-1009-7
Have fun
