I had a few I saved back for a tiebreaker - some are very sneaky. Cherub is a good example. It's cherubs when you're talking about adorable children, but cherubim if you mean the angels.

I don't mind, as long as nobody says 'cherubims'...

That list sounds logical, although I do know a fair number of US academics who use 'syllabi' for the plural of 'syllabus'. ('Cos we have to make them up.) smiley - smiley

Yeah. I once rewrote a paragraph for a Guide Entry, because the sub-editor refused to believe in the existence of the verb form 'throve'. smiley - rofl And I refused to accept 'thrived'.
