It's customary that some time during the h2g2 Najo I'll give a plug for the Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival.
It took place last Saturday, 2nd November, but you can still catch it as it tours around other Somerset towns over the next week or two - see the schedule here: http://www.somersetcarnivals.co.uk/events.asp
If you haven't yet been initiated into this event, it's probably the biggest and best illuminated carnival there is. It's also very little known outside the region. I wrote an entry about it a few years ago - see A8572278

Oh, thanks, Icy! My editor gave me my next project outline yesterday afternoon: 'British Culture II'. 
And it includes Guy Fawkes.
Be sure I will be citing you as a resource. 
Unfortunately, this is only an ESL reader, but hey - you'll be informing language learners around the world!
Lil and Bluebottle were instrumental in 'British Culture I' - they wanted to know all about Norman castles and Afternoon Tea.
