Two days ago a boy, barely a young man, died due to an overdose of a yet unidentified drug. He was nineteen years old, lived in the house next to where I live and he was a friend of my youngest son. He was by no means an angel, but he was a nice and polite young man, always with a smile in his eyes and time for a chat when he popped in. He did that quite often during the last months of his life, since he always seemed to forget his keys and needed to borrow the phone to get help to come in to the flat he shared with some other guys. The last time we met, about a week before his death, he seemed to be in a good shape.
His life was not simple, and the way he chose to survive it was definitely not a god choice. His friends are devastated and are going to have a memorial service this evening. Hopefully this tragedy will make them realize the dangers and uselessness of the very bad things far too many of them fool around with.
...and also make them realize that keeping secrets can cause deaths. I just hope that some of them will have the guts and be brave enough to share who that provided the murder weapon so that d****d pusher get to pay for this death and all other misery his deeds cause.

100% behind you on this,I have 4 kids (14 to 26)and trying to make them realise what the really bad things out there are is not an easy task, but if we as parents don't take the responsibility for our children and what they do why should anyone else?
Sorry to hear your tragic news.

Damn pushers! I'm lucky enough to only have friends hooked on booze and ciggys, not that those options are very healthy either. The real problem is that they are targeting the younger people to get them hooked for longer. I know people who have been drinking since 13 and smoking about the same time. A few friends of friends have been in bad drug related incidents though. I say ban all of those *legal* drugs too, look what effect it's having on the younger generations.

Except maybe wine/champaigne etc. for formal occasions but maybe only with special permission.

yes, please don't ban champagne. Or any alcohol or cigarettes if I'm brutally honest. The thing is when a drug is legal it isn't 'pushed'. It's the 'pushing' especially on young people that's so destructive. Particularly when it's a drug it's possible to OD on and die.

Yes, true. The only effective way to deal with it would be the World Police, and they can't be set up properly until all the countries band together. The pushers go into schools around where I live, because those schools have mufti not uniform, so you can't identify which are the pushers. It's disgusting.

Dragonqueen, I'm so saddened. It's awful when this happens. Have some and feel better though. The world still needs some .

I've only ever tried three drugs: Alcohol, tobacco and cannabis (the last two were in the same breath). I like the first one, but the last two suck.
And yeah, dealers are right ghents.

I think I may have to start WATR going against drugs etc.
WATR is We All Together Rock. It's an international group that supports each other all the time. Only about 8 members though.
Maybe I should expand it a bit... Hootoo may work...
