Ok, not the most descriptive of subject titles but it does make sense. As you probably know (or at least you should know if you've bothered to read my intro) I work in a jobshop. Now, next door to this jobshop is a bank. This banks mail box is right next to our door and looks more like a part of our shop than theirs. Now I can perfectly understand that, if all you look at is that letter box, thinking that we're the bank is completely understandable. However, if they cared to use their eyes a little more they would notice certain things that points to the "hang on, this doesn't look like a bank!" catagory.

First off, right behind the main desk is a huge sign saying 'Jobshop' which, to me, is the first thing you see walking in. Next up is the fact that their is no safes, our back door is wide open and there is not sort of money tendering facilities to speak of. Added to that the fact that their is cards with job positions on them and our uniform also has 'Jobshop' emblazened on them all points to a non-bank environment, yet people still don't see it. We have people who pull out their blue banking book and say things like:

"Right now this week..."
"Was (insert name) just here?"
"I'd like to..."

It's at these points we kindly point out to them that, in-fact, the bank is next door. Their replies are often the usual "oh" but every now and then you get the odd gem:

"Oh, (laughing) I was just thinking had you had a re-fit!"
"Really? It was here last week"
"Are you sure?"

The last one gets me every time I still chuckle to myself when I remember who said it and in what manner. Still, my supervisor likes playing the same joke on them (when suitable). The basic occurance goes like this. Some person meaning to go into the bank comes in our shop and displays their blue book, then a conversation happens between both parties and goes something like:

Supervisor: "Hello Sir, how may I help?"
Customer looks around
S: "Are you drawing out or putting in?"
C: "Taking out" or "Putting in"
S: "That's next door sir"

Highly funny I'm sure you'll agree *sigh* Anyways I still see it happen and I still keep wondering how these people can't spot the fact that we look nothing like a bank. I guess I'll just have to get rid of their post box!
