On Recovery From an Episode of Depression

I stand on a hilltop oft overran
gazing bleakly at the bitter land
the sweat on my cheek salty-stale
oxidizing like a rusted nail
I know I've been here,
I retreated before,
I know every indentation,
Every mound on the moor
I must gird myself and advance anew
disregarding whate'er the foe may do
My cause is not hopeless, nor courage undone,
I'll emerge from darkness into the rising sun!

Depression is always a difficult thing to overcome. Been fighting it myself, as you are well aware, for the last few months.
The easy way out is to get a doctor to determine that you are "Clinically Depressed" and start shoving HappyPills down your gullet till your body chemistry is so out of whack that you are incapable of rational behaivour. The real way out is to deal with the cause of your depression and fight through it.

Hear, Hear ! You nad I both know people who rely on pills and doctors to help them cope with feelings that are normal. It is always better to deal with the cause of our problems and not just treat the effect.Poetry is part of my therapy (well, that, and beer)
