I would hazard a guess that many paedophiles view kiddie porn, which is why it has turned into a billion dollar biz.
Basic supply and demand happening.
I don't pity them because they have a choice. And most don't make a good choice. I might pity a paedophile going through hell trying his utmost to change things, but I don't think this is how most of them operate.
Bear in mind that I was abused by my own brother who later on abused his three young daughters. I have no pity for him. He is a loser and a user. And a total coward. But I won't hate him - he's not worth the effort.

Sorry, az. I'll bear that in mind. I just don't think that a completely general and nonspecific answer of "lock 'em all up and throw away the key" is fair.

I don't agree with that either. It is very complicated, what *should* be done about people who pose a very real danger to children. Especially if they won't take any personal responsibility for themselves. And make no mistake. Supporting the child porn business is just as wrong as doing the nasty deed yourself.
Perhaps possible offenders should have those implants put in so they can be located at any time. They should also be offered support with therapy and drug therapy. The big problem, perhaps, is that some paedophiles feel so ashamed of themselves that they could never ask for help - and this is somthing society needs to address more openly. There could be support groups, like AA (the nameless drunks!) Something! Anything! If my brother had ever shown any remorse and asked me to help him then I would have helped him. But he chose to remain as he was. Yes, poor b*st*rd. But he also destroyed his three young girls. So, sorry, no pity there.

Maybe I'm too liberal, but I believe in infinite second chances for everyone. And I don't believe in pre-emptive action.

Hmmm
I think we should clone Hitler and get him to deal with them!!!

Mal Posted Aug 8, 2003
It's okay to have your own views, but I'd rather we didn't waste him like that. We ought to clone him, then torture him for the remainder of his mortal life.

OK Fnord, got your point!!!
Az tells me that you have unsubscribed to the God thread, well I can,t say I blame you if you have, it has become really wierd and horrible, no-one of any merit is posting much there anymore, and I just seem to get really upset and steamed when I read the ridiculous and stupid ideas that they have, Mars is a total pratt, and I posted him tonight telling him that he was totally out of order in his response to you. I also told CP to "get a life".
Now I am going to bed.

Thankyou, Jane, I noticed that. I haven't unsubscribed - that would just mean ignoring the people who I don't like - but I am not going to post there any more. At least, not until the decent people come back.

Hi Fnord
I was going to unsubscribe to the God thread, but I think now that like you I will take a look every now and again, hold myself back, take a deep breath and resist the temptation to post until somebody say,s something that is reasonably intelligent and worthy!!
Meanwhile I will try to find something more interesting to post to!! I may even start a "who thinks he,s clever thread" Tox is bound to be the first to post!!!
How are you???

Hullo, Jane.
Originally I was going to do the opposite, and post whenever anyone said anything particularly blindsighted and stupid; but after following for a few more days, it seems I'd never stop posting, so I had to reverse it.
I'm currently on the lookout for good quality, regular theology threads. Gotta be one around here somewhere...

I've just postle-a-roonied on your and Primist's thread. Do you think I was right?
Ach, az told me she doesn't like talking about Fred.

azahar Posted Aug 14, 2003
Did not!
I only said that I thought I'd already said as much about Fred that could be said. Wow, think I'll send that into the poetry thread!

Great. Now I'm going to be humming that to myself all night...
"...said about Fred, she said he was dead...now I'm going to bed to rest my head...la la la..."

Hi Fnord
Nope no problem having you on primists thread, I would like to start a "silly thread" totally inane and really stupid, that would cause everyone to howl with laughter, well, it doesn,t take much to make me do that cos I have a phd in silliness (just ask Az). Everything has become so SERIOUS, hell we should all lighten up and just find something to laugh about.......
Maybe I could inspire you to write some more poetry???
Ahhh, silly she said
as she lay down her head
narrowly missing Fred
who was laying on the bed
He had not been fed
she thought he was dead
his eyes were red
then she saw it was Ted
who lay on the bed
he looked like Fred
who was recently wed
to a girl called ned
who laid on the bed
looking very well fed
sleeping like dead
hum hum, too much beer tonight I think, so I will shut up and give up my career as a poet

Two very, very important issues -
I would advise you on health issues not, under any circumstances, repeat, NOT to ask me to write any poetry. You've read it. It tends toward the bad, the bland, and the just plain depressing. The only one I've seen fit to keep to far is the Dualism one in my Journal.
Secondly-
If you like ridiculous poetry, check out "The Ballad of Grimly Moer". It should be in my recent guide entrys. It's a long read, so take some food in with you, and tell someone where you're going. See if you can figure out which stanzas were mine, because I sure as hell can't.

Hi Fnord
Well, in my youth yes, I can just about remember that far back, I used to write poetry, in fact I still have it, sealed in a book that no-one is allowed to open, it,s grim, depressing beyond belief, no-one has ever seen it, I just look at it to cheer myself up when I feel really fed up, because reading those poems reminds me that I can,t be half as depressed as I was then!!!
My poems were black and full of despair, total misery, but I used to get such pleasure out of writing them!! when I see them now I can,t believe that I could have written in such a depressing manner.

I love writing depressing poetry, yeah. But it's not embarrasing because it's depressing - people seem to love stuff like that, because apparently it's "realistic" - but because it's awful. I do, however, post them here and on my website because no matter how bad they are, they all deserve a chance.
So the way things are going, I can lok forward to being a Jane when I'm older, then...

Now then Fnord am I to take that as a compliment??? (she said with a girlish laugh)
There is almost absolutely no-one who sails through life worry and grief-free, it is therefore somehow comforting to read poetry which seems to depict how one is feeling, or has felt, to identify, a kind of reassurance that you are not alone in a sea of desperation that appears to be all consuming and hopeless.
Or of course it could confirm all your worst fears and send you running to jump off the next bridge!
