Well, according to the certificate thingy I've been duly admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Science with Honours in Environmental Science in the Second Class, Division One.

Did ya wear one of those funny square "mortar-board" thingies like I always see in the movies? Or a skull-cap with a propeller on top? In designer colours, of course.

Yes, I had a black mortarboard (with tassle on the left hand side of course , black gown and the hood was black, sky blue and mid blue and in the Cambridge style, whatever that means

Considering it was almost 30 degrees today, it was a little hot

Maybe I just watch the wrong movies, these National Lampoon thingies, eh?

Had to wear a blouse, the hood thing has to fasten onto a buttonhole . The only skirt that would do was long and black, so it was definitely hot

You know, when I read the title, I thought you were back to the job in the hospital cafeteria

nooooooo, that was an even more silly hat, at least this one didn't cover my eyes

Do you have to buy the hat, or can you borrow it ?

Rented it, buying the gown and other bits would have cost about £400

That's clever, you'll probably not wear it ever again, so all the money would have been wasted. ( Same with a wedding gown, btw)

It's not uncommon though, at least 99% of the graduands had rented their gowns

I really wonder what the 1% do with theirs - give it to their heirs later ?
