Am very out of date with journal, so will sumerise. Here's what happened, roughly, and probably not in the right order. I have trouble telling what day of the week it is ordinarily, so I have given up here.

I walked on the Edges to Baslow with Ramsoc. It was too easy really, and I wished I had gone for a harder walk. It was very pretty, however, and at one point there was even some sun.

At various points during the week I ate pizza and watched films. I think this happened twice, but not sure. My family came to visit, and I took them to the Peaks. We went to Dovedale and Castleton. I discovered that they were very unfit and was quite frustrated that they could only manage a 20 minute walk at each point. They did, however, buy me a nice lunch and some gators.

Next there was the grade 2 training on Kinder Scout. The training is so that I can lead level 2 Ramsoc walks (there are 3 levels all together). To get up Kinder we had to scramble up a frozen waterfall. It was great fun. There was no rain, which is very abnormal for Kinder. The platue was as boggy as ever, so all was not lost.

After that there was Fat Cat Sandwich, a jaz band of which two of the Ramsoc people are members. It was a very good evening, but now I am completely worn out. I would go to bed, but that would require clearing first, in turn requiring effort. Didn't get much sleep last night as the fire alarm went off twice. The first time we spent 1/2 hour outside in the cold, the second time it was an hour. Was not happy as had to get up in morning to catch the coach for the walk. Still, the views were worth the effort, as always. To think that many of my friends can't see why I go walking most Sundays. smiley - biggrin

"...and some gators."

smiley - biggrin Visions of luxuious crocodile-skin hiking accesories. Supremely useful for stopping Kinder Scout bogs entering boots and the envy of all your friends.

One of these days I'll get some for myself, though I think I may go in for the regular fabric sort.smiley - winkeye

They proved very useful, but most people had them so they weren't a subject for envy. The regular fabric sort is my favouite type and withing my price range (and my parent's). smiley - smiley
