The screen is wonderful! I was worried that its shininess would bother me, but it's so much better than the matt one on the old machine. I do have to be careful about light and placement but that was true for the matt screen too, only for different reasons.

Safari has this thing called Top Sites, which is a visual page that shows me a picture of all the webpages I am visiting most often and I can set ones I want to appear there. When I open a new tab, the page appears and I just click on the image I want to open. This existed on my old mac but I never used it. The bigger screen makes a difference.

Having a 17" screen is very good for me in terms of reducing the amount of scrolling I have to do when reading lots of text (had a 15" before).

It looks beautiful.

It's quiet, very quiet.

There you see. Told you it would be fine. I bet it's quick as well!

Top sites in Safari is really useful as is the Reading list (a pair of specs symbol in the toolbar). If you are jumping around the interweb researching something, adding pages to the Reading list is a great way of keeping track. Shift/Command/D puts the current page in the list.

Enjoy!smiley - biggrin

It's in Safari 5.1.1. If you right click in the Toolbar and select Customise (spelled with a z smiley - grr) you can add a reading list button. Here is a screen shot of mine - https://picasaweb.google.com/100111268881766100114/ReadingList#5666370820480388530

I'm using an earlier version (and the toolbar options are really light compared to on my old mac smiley - erm). Just downloading 5.1.1 now smiley - ok

What kind of Mac did you get? I have a late 2007 13inch MacBook. I just upgraded the hard drive and the RAM. It was kind of slow and beachballed a lot, but now it's much smoother. I wish I'd just gotten more RAM to start with.

Macbookpro. My old g4 powerbook gets lots of beachballs too smiley - sadface

I think having the HDD nearly full all the time doesn't help.
