Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary] Posted Jan 27, 2011
Thanks, Kea. But I honestly don't really feel like I'd have much to contribute on those threads, either - as much as I am impressed for them.
I feel a bit ashamed to say it, actually, but the main reason I haven't simply moved on from h2g2, years ago, and kept coming back now and then, is because of the Dan-related nostalgia... because this is where we met, and there are pages upon pages of conversations we had (or participated in), either silly or serious, and I'm kind of a sap and can't let it all go. There's all sorts of other things that make me nostalgic, too, but this is the main thing, for me.
But it's such a tiny and very personal thing that I don't think it can be much of a contribution to the discussions on the future of h2g2.

Ben suggested a list of what's good about barlesque. Here's a couple of threads I want to compile a list from. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F19585?thread=8017441 http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F19585?thread=8015256

I've been slinking round the webs and look what I found. From Nick Reynolds' CV:
>>Oversee h2g2 – long running, high traffic user generated content and community site
http://nickreynoldsatwork.wordpress.com/about/
-> "high traffic"
Interesting, eh? (although it is a couple of years old I suspect).
(I also note that he's the one responsible for moderation services He's probably fortunate that that's not more widely known on hootoo).

Just had to go back and find this. I so which this would be QotW:
>>
The universe is sticking its tongue out at us. Douglas Adams as the one-in-a-million guy who noticed what it was doing, and pointed this out to the rest of us. I figure that this Adams guy is some kind of a prophet, who managed to leave this Earthly plane in a way every bit as improbable as many of the events in his own books.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
