Fatuous Questions and Inane Remarks
Jabberwock Started conversation Nov 16, 2005
Wishing to branch out from my little, if supercalifagilisticexpialidociously splendid corner
of h2g2 and to adventure more into the cargo hold, I have been in receipt of the following advice from one katkodl, (one's nice, but one's enough, boom boom!)
:
>>just go to "ask" and post a really stupid comment... Soon there will form hordes at your "leave a message" button, and you'll get to know lots of (more or less) friendly researchers!<<
Trouble is, I don't want to post anything serious, as it'd get laughed at and amoeba'd off the thread if I did
so:
Do you know of any fatuous questions, inane remarks, silly observations, or anything really stupid I can use?
Third-sourced remarks, from human beings or from politicians, also welcome.

You could ask:-
I am a newbie to hootoo, I would appreciate any assistance you can give me on making friends in here?

Well, as a non-native speaker I happen to post stupid stuff all the time... Suppose I'm not the best advisor for you... But if you want I can borrow you some of my grammar mistakes!
I think the main problem here is that you’re bored, right?
How about a different approach? Given that you're a Thursdayite, why don't you subscribe to some of our wonderful threads?
I recommend the bar, our “no no no” thread… maybe even the “yes yes yes” thread and the coffeehouse… and in case you’re REALLY bored the “wop” thread, and the racetrack thread. I can post the links here for you… and you needn’t read the backlog – no one does… if you have questions about what’s going on just ask me… there’s a good chance that I know what’s going on…
Oh, and don’t be afraid of getting laughed at… there are a few serious thread out there… somewhere… don’t ask me where, but I know they’re there…
one nice katkodl

It's just like RL Jab! You're gonna get burned a few times. God I should know! It's all part of the fun of the fair on hootoo. Just get out there - take a few risks. It's good to know you've a bolt hole to return to when you suddenly realise you've become hootoo's laughing stock of the day though! Get yourself established in a nice silly friendly thread or two with some pals and then go out there and explore and make a fool of yourself. You know we're your pals. And thingism is always there for you one day when you see the error of your ways!
Go Jab!

Conflict is not inevitable, but disarmament is... everyone now accepts that if there is a default by Saddam the international community must act to enforce its will.

George Walker Bush after having won the election in 2004:
“I believe last night the American people spoke. And their message was clear. They said: Mr. President, a little more than half of us like you. And the rest of us like that other guy, and the folks that like you don’t like the guys that like that guy. And if two guys like each other, they can’t get married.”
Bush actually said that in an interview. You can watch it here:

And then there's this one:
For the first time hypothecating any real increase in fuel duty to roads and public transport and I invite them to say if this hypothecation they are compared to adopt it.
