Movie Let Down

I was horribly disappointed with the movie. With all they could have done with it, I cannot believe it was not better. I have been waiting on this movie 4 years (I'm only 19) and was completly let down. I do not think that this would have been the way Adams would have wanted it. True, there were constantly new characters introduced, but there was way too much time spent on Humma Kuvula when they could have gone into more of the Zaphod/Arthur relationship which is hilarious. They spent too much time on the Arthur/Trillian love story and the deep thought scene was horribly misplaced! And one of the biggest disappointments was Zaphod's second head and third arm. . .I cannot believe they "removed" his head, the almost split personality characteristics of the two heads is a large part of the humor of the books. There were some funny parts and some things they did well. The characters were well casted, the Vogons were AMAZING, and deep thought was cool. But overall, disappointment. . .I cannot believe I so eagerly awaited this movie for four years and became estatic about it coming out in the last several months and then it was such a let down. Luckily, nothing could ever ruin it for me, and my copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy will retain its special place on my bookshelf and will always be my "comfort" book, but I honestly wish the movie had never been made. I think speculating about how great a movie could be and never seeing it is better than getting my hopes up and then it being so disappointing. Rant over

I have to say I agree, for the most part Although DNA was quite involved in the movie, or as much as he could be (see Salmon) until the end
I was sorely dissapointed in Zaphod's 2nd head. To horribly misquote, "A plastic one would've done. in fact it would've been appropriate" as a sort of homage to the paper mache' head in the first film
All in all, I do hope it did its job though and
1) made enough $$$ to warrent more films, and
2) interested enough people who have never read the series to do so
Key: Complain about this post

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
