Hey all you beautiful people!
I’m here in America and its Labor Day weekend, which means no school Monday, whoo hoo! I’m going home but I thought that my migration home should be celebrated by posting a journal. So here it is: the human mind categorizes everything. Science, nomenclature, the argumentative essay vs informative, everyday life is put into categories. Stereotypes are negative categories for people, in the way that any category that you put people in there’s gonna be someone that doesn’t fit in that category, but stereotypes are particularly bad because they can also be very off base and only a few people ‘classified’ there actually fit into it. I ask you, media? How does media affect stereotypes? Does it help make them more well know, perpetuating them by spreading? Or taking the opposite side the power of the media could tear down stereotypes and reach every person. So what do you think, media + stereotypes good or bad?
