Slinger! How are y'?
Remember your can-opener ordeal? I've almost gone through the same thing, but mine involved a missing school ID. I'm sure you know that majority of educational institutions maintain the "No ID No entry" crap so even though I was running late for class two days ago, I had to find mine. I've tried looking for it under my bed or every imaginable and searchable space of my bag and room but my efforts were useless nonetheless. Eventually, I gave up and resolved to go to school ID-less. Of course it hadn't been easy. I had to argue with a school guard from hell and trot my way to class. Anyhow, I survived... school ended and I headed back home. But just when I was contemplating whether I should get a new ID, I felt something inside my right pocket...an all-too familiar, card-like thingie. I reached for it and when I realized what it was, it took a conscious effort on my part not to throw it away violently!Ironically, I had my ID with me all along.

rrrrggg!!! I hate when those kinds of things happen. Fortunately you weren't so desperate to have some sort of id that you resorted to finding the nearest sharpest object and fashioning some sort of makeshift not to mention highly dangerous facimile of an id badge!
And, man are there nice university security guards anywhere on this planet? None in the states, none in asia. Who the heck do these guys think they are? The guards at my university have stopped helping anyone that has locked their keys in the car. Now, rather than providing you with a slim jim, they'll be more than delighted to help you call an outrageously expensive locksmith! Screw that and screw that no id no entry crap! What the heck are we paying these people for! What do they care who they're teaching as long as someone is learning something!
I better have a cup of ...

Who am I? I'll let you know as soon as I remember. Posted Sep 27, 2002
Thats weird... I have never heard of no ID no School. I attend classes in ohio. Most of the (all I know of) schools dont have that policy. I work at an airport where they do however require ID. One day after having a long weekend I forgot my door code. For certain restricted areas you have to swipe a badge then enter the your personal door code. I had my Airport ID (issued by FBI) My company ID and my aircenter ID. not to mention my drivers license and college ID. The airport police would not escort me through the doors. I had to call the director of airport operations have him come down to me and give me my door code. its a number I use every day and it just disappeared out of my mind compleatly. ..... I guess I am trying to say not everything we lose is tangible...
Have a great weekend everyone....

Perhaps your university guards are in some sort of conspiracy with the locksmiths. Hmmm. You might want to check on that.
I would have wanted to come up with a fake ID but I barely had time for it. I was more concerned about making it on time for class.
In fairness, I don't think all security guards are hellish. The haughty ones simply outnumber the existing few.
Here's a hot and a to wipe off that temper.

Hi Duffey!
I couldn't agree with you more that "not everything we lose is tangible".
But I couldn't be any more grateful that even though memories aren't as solid as rocks(unless of course we preserve them on Kodak paper or something ...), those that really matter aren't so hard to relive and remember. We can go back to them again and again, especially if they are held in the heart.
Uh-oh. Please hit me for my mawkishness .
Enjoy your weekend too!

Sorry, but I dont normally go around hitting people...even if they ask. I may sound stupid here but what is mawkishness?
What about the memories we want to forget, but cant! I wish I could forget the things I dont want to remember and never forget the things I should!
What Universities do you two go too? The whole ID thing sounds weird. I take classes at two schools here. (Ohio State and Columbus State) Both schools have offer classes in an airport facility where I study aviation. You would think ID was a big deal, but its not.

Mawkish=Sentimental in a sickly way
Sure, I also have memories that i want to get rid of. Too bad we weren't made with selective memory recall.
I'm a senior college in an all-girls school where IDs are such a huge, frown-inducing deal. I swear, life can't get any nicer than this. (please take note of the sarcasm...)

What's the "mmmmm" for?
I wish I've gone co-ed instead. I miss the obnoxiousness of the opposite sex. Heck, they were my neutralizer!

Mmmmm. That was funny . You sure know how to crack me up.
But try to put yourself in my case. Imagine YOU'RE in an exclusive school for blokes where every corner is guy-infested. You walk around the campus and bump into well, Dr. Einstein. You run into the field and guess who's running after you...Fred the rapper. You go to the library, pick up a book and find yourself tugging it with someone else...Lance the nerd. You want to sulk but Jared the jaded won't get off your back. To your left there's Austin who enjoys ranting. To your right there's Jake with his miserable jokes.
Imagine you have to interact with these people in every single day of your academic imprisonment. It's saturating. It's monotonous. It's always the same.
Being a girl in an all-girls school sure has its ups...but the downs are hard to deal and ignore. "Mmmmmm...," you still might want to say. But just this once, lemme scream, "GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!"
