I'm sorry I haven't had much time to be around here. I was busy at school, and now that I'm back home, my parents have been keeping me busy cleaning the house in the hope there might be room for a Christmas tree.

I did manage to put some photos from Caltech online, so if you want to see a bunch of people at least as nerdy as me:

Also, an bit of a dilemma. I was ice skating today, and as I was leaving the rink, one of the rink guards asked for my phone number. I've never had anything like that happen before. Anyway, I told her my email address instead (to avoid having to explain things to my parents). Assuming she actually does email me, how do I explain to her, that, well, I'm not heterosexual. I've never been in a situation like this before--I don't want her to think I'm lieing, because she did seem like a nice person to be friends with. But if she does email me, I guess I need to tell her the truth sooner than later.

Nice photies!

smiley - biggrin

I don't think you have to explain anything to her, just tell her. Mebbe she has some nice friends that you can or could meet in the future..if not nothing lost, right?

Most women *love* non heteral men smiley - biggrin it could be the start of a beautiful friendship. I would suggest telling her right away if she contacts you by e-mail...and then suggest that you find her interesting as a friend and would she like to go for a drink or hangout somewhere that you both like - icerink, mall, museum, gallery or whatever.

Glad you like the photos. If you're interested, those hiking views were taken on Mt. Baden-Powell in the San Gabriels during our orientation field trip. Unfortunately, I've been too lazy to put any text on the webpage, so there's no way for people to know that.

I think it's not so much that the people in the photos are enjoying college as that we're enjoying not actually being doing homework at the times the photos were taken. The Candy Cane War ones, for example, were taken when we ought to have been taking our chemistry final exams (Caltech has take-home tests, so you have some freedom in when you take them, and we were all procrastinating. Except Fedor, who was of course long done with all his finals. But I am enjoying college, and I'm surviving (so far at least).

Thanks for the advice. Now it's just a question of whether or not she emails me, I guess.

Well, no email from her yet. So maybe I had nothing to worry about, anyway.

Ah well, mebbe she's busy and forgot how quickly time can pass, or she forgot/lost the addy you gave her...perhaps you will see her again at the ice rink...

Still no email, so there probably won't be one.

I went to the Rose Bowl parade yesterday and took some photos there which can be found at http://www.its.caltech.edu/~rowlands/photos/RoseBowl/

Your right most likely.

Shame the weather didn't hold for the parade. Nice floats.
