And people wonder why I worry about America...

Hi good people
Traipsing across the interweb I cam across the following:
>As George Grant, former executive director of D. James Kennedy's influential Coral Ridge Ministries, wrote in his book "The Changing of the Guard:"
"Christians have an obligation, a mandate, a commission, a holy responsibility to reclaim the land for Jesus Christ -- to have dominion in civil structures, just as in every other aspect of life and godliness.
But it is dominion we are after. Not just a voice.
It is dominion we are after. Not just influence.
It is dominion we are after. Not just equal time.
It is dominion we are after.
World conquest. That's what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish."

You could also try googling 'Christian Nationalism' too, especially if you want to find out where GWB's backers live.

Scary stuff, Matholwch! That particular theology, Dominion theology, I believe it's called, is very popular in the USA, but very, very heretical!

What is worrying is that in the US the THPTB have a habit of hijacking the legal system to promote their own ideals and to do their best to erradicate any dissent. McCarthyism, supreme court appointments and the patriot act are just two examples of the way the self proclaimed "christian" right wing in the US has tried take dominion instead of allowing freedom of expression or the rule of democracy.
Overseas the action of these christian right wingers have been even more scary. Destabilising governments that have been democratically elected like that of Hugo Chavez while cosying up to the despots in Beijing.

Hi Andrew
Long time no see...
"It doesn't appear to be mainstream..."
Maybe not yet a small but determined group can change history, and all it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.

Hello Math! I agree, although if they stay within the law I'm not sure what could be done apart from the norm in such instances, i.e. words and argument.
I'm still on my travels (mainly in Rome), and it's difficult to make time for h2g2... but I expect to return at the start of June.
