Not having many I jot down too often (bad habit, many have been lost that way. the war between my memory and my forgetfulness is usually pretty one sided) let's share some of my poetry with the general public. So here goes. It's not my usual style, and much more dark, but I've gotten good reactions with it, so we'll start with....
The Darkness
it seeps in as water filling a submerged chamber
gently flowing from floor to ceiling
supernaturally
not a darkness of shadow but of mind and soul
heart and body
engulfing
this darkness overtakes all in its path
leaving nothing to the light
the little remaining light wanes
falling to the darkness itself
it has not the power to withstand
the darkness rules even over the light
it fills
fills all with its wretched oblivion
claiming everything like so many small children
but not even this darkness is all encompassing
a flare
a flare in the dark
in the night
in the blinding emptiness
but this flare is unknown
it is hard to see
to watch
it is to far to retrieve
and does not hear a call
the flare is small
but it fades not
it fades not
I have heard both optimistic and pessimistic interpretations of this poem, and I'm interested in anything anyone who stumbles across my little corner of H2G2 has to say about it. Have at it.
