still here in God-forsaken miami, land of the lotus eaters. my worldly possessions still albatrosses wacking away at my neck. co-dependent that i am, i fear it will take having to help someone else move, to get myself out of here. i am so sure my life will be wonderful after i move...

my daughter mellinda's here with b/f anthony. they look great! wanted to cry; seeing her maybe once every year and a half is kicking my butt. perhaps she will call soon, we'll do chinese... or not:

keep finding stuff Amal and i shared. can't blame her for not leaving here to move with me. it IS the land of her dreams. too bad i dont share the same dreams. she loves palm trees swaying in balmy breezes. i love snow piling up in drifts, the better to ski you with, my dear. she loves allah and mohammed, i love the God of my own understanding, whom i choose to call Hashem (just for contrast, mind you... otherwise, it makes no difference what God's name is. there's only one, right? well who knows for sure? could be a whole slue of them...

i'm miserable lonely, going thru all this junk by myself. it's like the past invading every pore of my brain (ok, the brain has no pores... picky picky). great-- now its raining. way t'go, Lord. thanx a bunch.

IS THERE LIFE AFTER MIAMI?

been here in RENO since sept 11, 2002-- i LOVE THIS TOWN. my prophesy was right on the money. mountains that rip open the clouds that bleed snow onto them; people that treat you like a decent human being; common courtesy, something miami has long forgotten, still exists here. drivers stop for pedestrians crossing ANY STREET, ANYWHERE! i have found people with depth to their personalities, who care about what i care about, not my money, car, furniture, or attire. it is the old West, "...where seldom is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day."

i have to pinch myself often, see if i'm dreaming or have died and gone to heaven... lake tahoe is an hour away, just over a few mountains (the sierra nevadas) and past a smaller lake (washoe) in a small valley. every day i see the hand of God paint the sky and earth to delight the eyes of all the souls here. even the poorest of poor here are not as bitter as the haughty cuban-americans in their $300,000 homes when the newsboy throws the paper into the hibiscus bushes. quite easy to see why they couldnt even figure out how to vote for the candidate of their choice.
