I still go through the motions but
It doesn't mean a thing
Still listen for the music tho'
I have no song to sing
Life's a heavy burden that
I can't bear anymore
But there's never any answer when
I knock on Heaven's door...

Once again the money men
Have moved into the temple
Their wheeling and their dealing
Doesn't set a good example
Their gods are growth and greed
But the millions in need
Have lost the faith and nobody can blame 'em
While fat cats prowl around
In the heart of London town
It's no longer enough to name and shame 'em...

I'm sorry if I failed you
It wasn't for the want of trying
To do the very best I knew
That I may have left you crying
Some people seem to sail through
A sea of troubles, colours flying
While others in a different crew
Are drifting aimlessly and sighing
I wish I knew what ailed you
To say I did would just be lying
I never even had a clue
That you were on the brink of dying
But up ahead the sky's pale blue
And though it may be mystifying
It seems your dreams are coming true
And my love there's no denying...

I didn't even have a clue (8)
That you were on the brink of dying (9)

Why things evolve the way they do (8)
My love for you there's no denying...(9)
