Edward the Bonobo - Gone. Posted Jan 10, 2008
Besides...*why* won't they allow an Lx machine? You're hardly likely to do any damage with it!

Probably not; the company would provide a docking station but I'd have to buy my own USB stick. I realize that they're actually dirt cheap, but surely it won't cost me too much more for a laptop with an OS already installed as opposed to a used one. Dell has some decent, low-end ones for under $1,000, and a used one through work would be $750 or so anyway.
And the more I think about it, the less likely I am to want to buy someone else's old problems. Used electronics really are nothing but trouble. Friends of ours gave us their old CD changer (mine only does three but theirs does 10) and it wouldn't eject the CDs. It cost me more to take it in and have it opened up to let the CDs out than it would've cost for a brand-new changer.

I don't know why they won't allow it, but they won't. Far be it from me to torment my IT Manager any more than necessary. *shrug* I know for sure that our accounting software and our databases (not MS) would not be compatible. Not sure about FileMaker.

Sorry, Christopher, for hijacking your thread. I'm horrible when it comes to topic drift...
