Today they rolled out the latest h2g2 skin, Brunel.

My initial reaction was 'ack!'. But in the space of about 30 seconds, it grew on me, and now I think I really rather like it.

I'm not usually prone to such rapid reversals of opinion, I promise.

It's grown on me as well.

I originally liked the look of goo (not something you hear people say every day) but prefer how alabaster is arranged. Perhaps if the two were to merge with the style of one and the layout of the other, we'd be onto a winner.

BTW How are you? Haven't seen you for a while.[]

Hey, I remember you smiley - smiley Good to 'see' you again.

I'm no longer an insufferably naive fresher, having traded in that life for that of an insufferably cynical postgrad. I stayed on here at Nottingham to do a PhD, and I'm now coming to the end of the third year, with no real end in sight... I suspect I'll leave eventually, but I'm in no position to judge when.

I think that the sci-fi society here has lost a lot of character since the golden era of 1996-98... I stopped going a few years back - it wasn't a shadow of its former self - they never showed anything new or interesting, nor held any parties featuring lemons. I don't know what it's like today, though. (Well, today, it's probably not much like anything, since it's summer and nobody's here.)

Still in occasional contact with a few of the old regulars, though.

So you're doing a PhD too? How's yours going? smiley - biggrin

Oh, and I forgot to even mention skins.

I like the look of Goo, I just can't read anything on the site while using it. There's just not enough contrast. Maybe it's just my web browser setup, but I can't see how people can stick with it if they're seeing it exactly as I am.

I long for the day when we can choose from a dozen or more skins, or - joy of joys - use user-contributed skins. But I don't know how viable either one is.

My PhD is not going overly well. After two years are have few results. Though this seems to be a common with many PhDs. Results start coming in when the funding starts to run out. Speaking of which I'd better go and process some results now...smiley - run
