It is late and I am tired, but I'm sitting, yet again, waiting for exam results to be delivered in the morning.

I don't know how anyone with several children can stand it. I have only two, but such is the timing of their births that I have spent every summer since and including 1998 awaiting exam results.

However, if all goes well, this will be an end to it.

Once they are at university, there are no Parents' Nights, no letters home, no expectation that you, as maternal parental unit, will greet every grade with the requisite praise and recognition...

.. end of an era, really...

Aye, it's Greig I'm talking about, we should hear within the next six or seven hours, I should think.

It's almost three here now, and he has asked to be wakened at ten if 'the envelope' has arrived by then.

Greig has made a seventeen year career out of ensuring I never know what to expect...

Good news!

He did really well, he is the only one in the family to have a Higher Maths!

He just missed the grades Stirling asked for, though. He's to call them back tomorrow to find out their decision.

Got a call from him to say B, C and D - but he's low on credit on his phone so will explain later. Not a great showing, considering he sat Four subjects - but rather better than we expected nonetheless.
