h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

The first week of term is always a bit of a struggle, as I try to remember what exactly I do and get used to the long drive to and from school. So, I was really looking forward to the weekend; my intention was to have a restful Friday evening, just chilling and surfing, and then to get stuck into the next assignment over Saturday and Sunday.

The best laid plans, and all that...

Number one son came home from work on Friday and announced his intention to drive to Stirling after his meal. He hadn't seen his lady since Wednesday morning and that was obviously far too long. He left home just after eight, drove a mile along the road, hit a wall, rolled the car three or four times and walked away from it with a wee cut to his hand.

My weekend has since consisted of hospital (he's fine, thankfully, but was taken away strapped to a spinal board as a precaution), insurance companies and hire car places. My car is a complete write off.

The assignment lies untouched; it will have to wait.

Richard is a bit sore, but otherwise all right. I cannot believe he walked away from the mangled wreck with one wee cut.

He will never be luckier.

Greig told me earlier hun... God. That's just out of the blue! At least he's OK and wasn't hurt at all... There's something to be happy about!

Especially when you see the state the car is in.

At least he is OK, that is the main thing!

You're right, Cheeky, but I can't help thinking it's not the main thing, it's the only thing.

The rest can be sorted, but we couldn't knit a new Richard!

He went through a bit of an "I have been saved for a reason!" phase, but he's a bit down just now, I think it's all hitting home now.

well straight after the accident its just addrenalin you are running on i went throughthe same with sonya last year in june thats how i know what the insurance ppl are like

He's much better now, thanks for asking!

The lady in question, Lisa, came to stay and that made a huge difference to him.

He's still off work, but is getting over the shock now, I think.

believe it will take a while but he needs to get himself behiind the wheel the sooner the better

First I need to get a wheel to put him behind!

Awaiting word from the insurance company and I'll be out looking at cars this weekend.

Richard's going back to work tomorrow.

has he driven anywhere yet?
