a few hawaiian words in common usage
(no particular order, since this site seems to lack vi and awk)
alii: royalty - okay i moved this one to the top
kapu: keep out, in certain cerumstances, you may want to consider referring to the definition of alii
pau: finished .. (even my mainland friends use this one)
hana: work
pau hana: finished working, maybe retired, or maybe taking a dirt nap
kaukau: food - think kaukau at the luau
kokua: cooperate ... NOT trash
mauka: towards the mountains (not them thar hills)
makai: opposite of mauka ... towards the ocean
ewa: west (only works in homolulu ... a referance to ewa beach, om the west side of pearl harbor)
kokohead: east (only works in honolulu)
haole: literally ghost, white folks
papolo: nicer than n****r, but literally, black
pakalolo: crazy weed ... ask for it in waikiki
keanu: cool (not in common usage, but i had to throw it in, since i lived on keanu street) aloha to mr reeves
