h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Today is Shea and TJ's wedding Day. In exactly four hours time (it is one o'clock here in Sevenoaks Kent) they will be in the Church promising to love and honour one another for the rest of their lives.
It is quite extraordinary - and wonderful - that I can feel so much a part of their lives and be able to share this wonderful day with them although physically they are strangers to me.This surely is the strength and bonding of h2g2. It unites people all over the world.
I do think that people like Douglas Adams, who had a vision of the strength of how different people who would probably never meet in the normal fashion in Real Life have had the opportunity of meeting through the wonder of the Internet, are the true visionaries.
Admittedly there are down-sides to this new technology. But I really do believe that it is possible to unite many people of different ages, gender, nationality, and religion through this splendid medium. I suppose that the common bond obviously is an interest in the future therefore the new technology. The other binding bond is a common interest whether it is in humour,the arts,sports,activities and just plain interest in people and the accompaning moralities such as compassion and a sense of justice,.
I drink a toast to the newly weds, Shea and TJ and to the person who made their meeting possible Douglas Adams.

So...I see you are coming to the London Meetup...YAY...Finally we get to meet...Although I noticed from your journal that you were in Nodnol a couple of weeks ago... Fun was it?

What a lovely surprise. It will depend on the weather though because I have problems getting around in the rain in my wheelchair!!. Are you going to play one of the energetic games now that your lungs are virtually nicotine free? So we must just pray for wonderful weather and I look forward to meeting my special friend.
