Today my father informed me that I should be more grammatical when sending e-mails or posting to message boards. What do you think?

Perhaps it's because I'm probably about the same age as your father, but I prefer to see correct spelling, punctuation & grammar in emails, postings etc.
I think this makes them easier to read & avoids misunderstandings, also it shows you've taken trouble over them. However I'm not averse to language evolving, this is inevitable. Texting is almost a new language all on its own!

Normally in H2G2 i am quite grammatical, but i do agree, txt msgng is practically a new language!

of course, it depends whether yopu understand it or not.

But there is something elegant about proper grammer that most people take for granted.

Yes, isn't language wonderful?

I can read txt but rather slowly - I'm determined to put off having a mobile phone as long as possible. (Yes, there are people who don't have one!)

BTW I used to do archery for a while & I'm a Pratchett fan too.

I have had 2 mobiles i can normally rad txt msgs instantaiously as if it were just normail englesh.

If only i were that good at french!!

i know abt 8 people out of 10 who dont have mobiles.

I keep finding there aren't smileys for what I want to say!
(Sorry I use far too many !!!)

I normally only use the 3 smileys. They prove useful as a signature.
