Event Horizon

I must confess, I am a slob!

I can make mess without trying, without even realising, I can be siting in a space alone, and then look round a few hours later & think OMG! Where did all that come from? A good example is round my computer, where I have amassed an alarming amount of junk since last night:- 3 glasses, an empty bottle of coke, a full bottle of beer and 2 empties, a bottle of JD & one of Vodka, a plate of half eaten munches, a roll of tape, a salt shaker X-F books CD's, a bike light, a plectrum, 3 guitars, a work bag, 3 pairs of shoes and more. Now I surely didn't use all of those things....so what happened?

Anyway I have developed a theory to explain my acute messiness.
I am genetically predisposed to mess making, it's in my genetic make up.

Now as yet I have no proof, but I believe there is a messy gene!

It can be Recessive - m,
Or Dominant - M.
The combinations and the effects are as follows:-

m-m = this person will be a tidy one, able to keep things in order & the space around them clean & clear, in all eventualities. The mess of others will make them feel uncomfortable & the urge to tidy will be overwhelming.

M-m, m-M, or M-M = these people will be hopelessly messy, displaying the symptoms as I noted earlier, unable to control the build up of junk in any given space in which we frequent. Mess will accumulate at an astounding rate, and without opposition. They will live with mess quite happily, unworried by the mess of others, and quite willing to help them make more.
The urge to tidy is so suppressed that in order to make any kind of effort to put things away keep thing in order some sort of ulterior motive must be on offer.

The dominant fashion of the Messy gene would account for the would account for the overwhelming mess creating capacity of the human race.

I also believe that there can be mutations within the MG, creating mutants within the population, perhaps being recipients of an extra M gene. These 'Triple M's' take slobishness to new levels, and even conventionally messy people will find themselves shocked by their capacity for mess making.

It is my hope that any Genetic Scientists out there on h2g2 will take on the quest to locate the MG, and develop gene therapy to help people such as myself, and especially those poor 'Triple M.ers', the survival of the human race could depend on it!

Thanks, ASS!
