I've just got in from one of the longest, but also one of the most interesting days of my life! I had to get up exceptionally early, after working til midnight last night, to get on a bus from Tarporley to Maccelsfield, which took about an hour. We went to the Kingscross Methodist Church to perform two concerts in one day with the Cheshire Youth Choir, the first of which was to be with the Maccelsfield Silkworms, a fantastic choir of 8-11 year olds! Unfortunatly our choir mistress, Shirley, had decided that becasue I was taking my grade 8 this term, I could do an instrumental solo. Dammit. I don't like soloing, it makes me nervous, and then I make stupid mistakes. Today was no exception, but to that later. The first concert was at 3pm, but we had to rehearse from 11.30 up until then (excluding lunch of course). Weird thing is that Shirley manages to make rehearsing fun not least becasue she's a top person, but also becasue shes completely insane, with a weird duck fixation (but to that later!)
During rehearsal I played my solo perfectly, gorgeous dynamics and all the rest of it and in the first concert, despite the odd mistake, there was nothing to noticably horrible. However, during the evening performance I just couldn't o it at all! It was just crap. I was so nervous, my palms were sweating so the keys were sliding about under my fingures. I completely lst it at the very beginning. Fortunatly I managed to keep going and pick it up alright. It's was so embarrassing! How come I can manage to sing infront of 15000 people, but I can't manage to play a simple stupid grade 8 piece infront of a hundred at best? Stupid. I really wish Stefan had been there to calm me down, I probably would have done it better then. My accompaniment to Moonlight Seranade was ace though, I kicked ass. And I absolutly flooded the place with expresion, not just poured it! And our little hat dance to "One" was great fun, though Im sure all the hats will not be returned in one piece!
At the end of the night the drew a rafel, and they asked Alex and myslef to come and draw it out becasue it was to be our last concert with the choir. We did this, then they told us to stay there, and they gave as both presents! Bless them, it was so sweet! I got a duck (hence duck fixation!), as in the Gosling song that we sing. If you press its tummy it cherps. Tres sweet. I was all over come, and people kept saying how much they were going to miss me! I'll really miss them too, especially Becky, Rose, Sarah, Simon, Daniel, Jonothan, Rosemary...everyone really! Some things about going to uni next year totally suck!

It squeeks! So cute.
Sorry about blowing you off this evening, though I persistantly blame adam! No excuses though. On the plus sound, what we recorded sounds ace, though now Im really tired after hours of laying down track after track, then over laying vocals, backing vocals bass lines, etc etc... exceptionally boring. Sounds quite professional now (except for the giggling and the occasional bum note!)
See you on wednesday!
