I was asked if I would like to become president of my Toastmasters' Club today. I said it might be fun. There was talk of an election. I hope we have one, then it means I'm not committed. Our current president has said she definitely doesn't want to remain president. I'm not sure I can measure up to her. She's do positive!

Do you not have to become EVP (Educational Vice-President) first of all?
You would be a great president by the way. It's not a difficult role so long as other people in the committee do their jobs. You are the glue that brings everyone together.
I was President last year, and, while I found it a stimulating role, the club was struggling for members and an awful lot was going on in my own life. It was more of a burden than it should have been. I'm PRO this year and things are very different.

Do I have to be EVP first of all? I was advised that there were two people who might be suitable for President. The other was has been EVP, but doesn't seem keen. I would vbe very happy for an election. It would mean that there's a 50:50 chance that I wouldn't have to do it for a while longer - and I've a lot going on both personally and professionally at the moment.
If I did become president, it might act as an incentive to look at my image and how it could be improved. I could look at the qualities that our current president has and see how I could cultivate them.
