I went to the orthodontist yesterday and he's very pleased with my progress. He's put elastics on my top teeth, so they've been huring all day. I went into work and came home again.
There's been progress in the building work too. The decking is finished and the pergola is well on the way. Given the back garden is on a slope, there's about a foot and a half drop, so I think that we'll need some steps to get to the level of the lawn.
Also I'm about to pay my tax disc for my car - online. No more queueing in post offices for over half and hour. There's progress for you!

Very good. Was your car a new one or did it belong to a teacher?

Hi LS,
My car is quite an old one. Someone bought it for me at an auction so it was quite cheap. Tax isn't these days, though - 180GBP! (GBP=£)

Great British Pound £
My car is old now too. Luckily it doesn't need taxing for some time yet. MOT is still as well due to smart Devonian mechanics/garage

My tax and MOT used to come in December. Since I got this car, they've been at the end of March - a better time than around Christmas.
Isn't it good to have a really good garage!

Yes it is! I hope I find one that isn't too expensive and as good as the one I had in Devon. Ian and all his mechanics were extremely nice people. I remember one time, when they heard what my number was, they tried to send them some shoddy brake pads. Luckily, for me the *other* Dave was on the scene (or was it the *other**other*, *other* Pete) gave them a good what for sent them back and replaced them with better ones.

I've had really shoddy treatment at garages before now. Some treat women as easy prey to be ripped off.

Hello ZSF
Good grief - you really are having a time of it at the moment, aren't you? How are the elastics? Not hurting so much now I hope.
Sorry not to have been here for a while. It sounds as though things are progressing with little and for you in regard to the workshop you attended How great it must feel to have support of other parents who are similarly challenged.
As for the men in your life; they deserve a slap forgetting Mothers' Day. Here's a from an admirer.

Hi Fb!
Oh, you're back from holidays - I thought you were going for longer. The teeth are settling in again, thanks.
I'm not sure how things are progressing with little as far as getting help and support for him through the school is concerned - although undoubtedly, this workshop was done through the good offices of the school. I'm told that I should have heard sooner than I have (well, I'm still waiting to hear) about the speech and language therapists recommendations and any action stemming from them. It was a relief to see that the parents were all nice normal people.
Big s and thanks. Fb!

Is there anybody you can pursue about the speech and language issues? How frustrating to know that you should have heard by now...
Only a week's holiday sadly. I could happily have stayed away for longer (except for getting back to my lovely car of course )

I met with little 's teacher this morning - it was an academic review day, so I got the opportunity of pursuing the issue of the speech and language therapist's report and what action might come from it. I've been told to ring back in a week if I don't hear from them and chase them. I also had a letter today from the children's clinic to attend an appointment on 16 April.
This, I think is progress.
Only a week's holiday, but a lifetime of memories, probably a whole loads of phots and an entry for PR.

That sounds good. I wish you the best of for your entry with PR. Also good wishes and for little 's appointment on the 16th April
I wrote some stuff for the alternative workshop last summer, but I was asked to remove it. A shame really, because looking back on it, it was only a reflection of what baby animals and humans do.
Never mind, it is lost now. Unfortunately, my creativity flow is moving in other directions for the time being.

I didn't see your entry in the alternative workshop, LS. Why did they ask you to remove it?
Yes, Fb - it is progress. I felt much better after I had the meeting with his teacher at the academic review day.
