Ancient Mysteries of missing socks
Nilkin Started conversation Jul 6, 2001
Over the last few days Ive been mildly disabled with a bad case of sunburn, and had more time than is safe on my hands. I got to thinking about the missing socks in the dryer mystery.
I believe I may have a clue as to what is happening to them. The simple answer that they never made it to the dryer, and are instead massed under the bed in mortal fear, was too ordinary. Or that either the washer or dryer develop an energy vortex that hurls them into another dimension, that was too Star Trekkish.
No, I believe they make thier own way to a parallel dimension, to a planet one orbit out from the lost ball-point pen world. I have done exhaustive and meticulous studies of the dryer, washer, and nearly the entire house. No sign of vortexs, or refugee camps under the furniture full of dirty and down-trodden socks.
So this is the only conclusion which can satisfy the observed facts. And though finding the ball-point world would be nice, a land of socks of questionable cleanliness is probably best left to itself.
